Fevola is a great player but just how much did having him in our side stifle the development of our other forwards? Kennedy has started to show something at WCE and a big part of that is just the natural progression of a young KPP, but I think getting out from under Fevola's shadow has helped enormously.

I'm looking forward to seeing how the likes of Henderson, Yarran and O'hAilpin progress over the season with a gameplan that isn't focussed on getting the ball into one man's hands. Losing Fevola may ultimately be the one step back we needed to take in order to take two steps forward.

i thought at the start of the game last night when we had all of our tall forwards with a major and some mids and small with goals was a fantastic start to the real season and it was fantastic not to see one player as a focal point, and players appearing to think rather than bomb it in to a 1 on 3 contest

Totally agree.

A lot harder to stop multiple leads in tandem.

I am going to enjoy this ride:smoking:

A lot of what happened last night might have also been the players thumbing their noses at the naysayers and one other person who caused a lot of angst by being so demanding of the ball for so many years.

I don't think Carlos felt that his lung was going to be punctured last night at all.

The trick is to back that up, week in and week out.

We did better last year with 11 individual goal scorers:

Betts 5
Robinson 3
Waite 3
Fevola 2
Judd 2
Murphy 2
Wiggins 2
Garlett 1
Hadley 1
Kreuzer 1
Russell 1

It'll be good to have that as the norm rather than the exception won't it though verbs?

last night was good though at times we probably looked for betts when we shouldnt have. Not surprising though as he would have been the only recognised forward last night. As the others improve and teammates gain more confidence in them we will look better again.

Lots of clever short passing in the forward half yesterday that created and improved scoring opportunities - that was something we havent done much at all in previous years

Putting JK into the ruck didn't help much either.

Time will tell though. No doubt the ghost of Fev still haunts that forward 50 and he won't leave the players' minds straight away.

Begs the question: Who should we hire as assistant coaches, Ghostbusters or Scooby Doo?

I think this guy might be more appropriate
