The heat is on...

McLean
Warnock
Henderson

I know it's a bit unfair placing Hendo in this category, but he is a high pick and we lost a lot to get him. But in saying that, I don't think we can judge him for another 2 years. But we'd hope to see some signs in 2010 of course.

Really though, Brock the Rock and 206 need to perform in 2010.

Brock the Rock has a query on his pace, and so he needs to show the game has not passed him by.

And 206 has a lot of expectation on him too.

3 recruits, all came to us with a cost, will they be the real deal?

..firstly, Hendo didn't come to us as a cost at all, but rather as a gift since we were very much off-loadin' the fev.. ..plus he's a 20yr old KPF with 15 games experience.. ..bit early for any heat don't ya reckon..?.. ..and Knockers was basically a 2nd rounder.... ..Brock came as our inside mid and needs to bring his A-game to really help us..

You obviously missed the bit where I said 'But in saying that, I don't think we can judge him for another 2 years'

And you're comment about off-loadin Fev is mere spin. Had we not got a young KPP in the deal (Hendo) the faithful would have torn down the remaining grand stands at VISY Park. Hendo was part of the big deal, so don't delude yourself into thinking we got him for free.

206 was Picks 24, 56 and 72. Pick 24 is not insignificant, and give our luck with some latish picks over the journey, I'm guessing giving up 3 picks for a player was not something the club did lightly.

Hey, we're all hopeful and optimistic and positive etc, but reality is 206 and Brock have a bit to prove.

..heh, yeah i did miss that part..

..not sure how my comment regarding fev is 'spin'.. ..you don't think we were gonna off-load him regardless..?.. ..who knows what we would have taken in a deal just to facilitate one.. ..Hendo rightfully so saw his KPF chances diminish greatly with the brions chasin' fev hard, and saw his golden opportunity open up with us.. ..as for the carlton faithful, the real faithful understood fev Had to go.. ..i'm not sayin' we got him for free, but we were lucky to get him in the circumstances, cos we were sellin' fev at below market value, and everyone knew it..

Slight correction - we got pick 69 (O'Keeffe) back for 72 (Tim Ruffles) so we gave up two picks in effect plus a minor upgrade in our favour

I don't think they would have got rid of him for nothing. It's not just about us, but also about making other teams stronger. You don't allow Fev/Brown to team up in a Voss Wet Dream Fwdline for nuthin.

I do see Hendo as a gift, bec I think in time he will mature into a good fwd for us. He is not overly quick, and he needs a couple more years before he can hold those tight marks on the lead, but he has a good head on his shoulders, and seems competent enough from what I have seen. So I expect over time he will become a good KPP.

But I personally don't think we'd have got rid of Fev for nuthin, and so personally I think Hendo partly cost us 80-100 gls this year. Now I don't expect him to re-pay us in 2010, let alone 2011. But in 2012 and beyond if he doesn't start to really re-pay us, then I will be saying loud and clear we didn't get value for the 80-100 gls a year we lost in Fevola. Of course Fevola could go on and do something unbelievably stupid in the next couple years and get sacked by the Lions, and so Hendo would be a gift if that happened I spose. :donk:

The heat on a 21-game ruckman and a what... 11-game key position player??? Sheer madness, despite whatever qualifiers are put after that statement.

Brock, however, is mature enough for us to expect an immediate impact. Maybe not in game one, but you'd want to see him contributing consistently to the team reasonably quickly.

..what i'm sayin' though, is i reckon we were never gonna get what fev was worth.. ..i think that in the circumstances the brions overpaid, even with us sellin' fev below value.. ..Hendo and pick 12 is basically a big fat chunk of the brion's future, and with what fev did we snagged 2 first rounders in a way.. ..i reckon we did well, considerin' the first trade option..!!..

The heat is on 22 players to win against a shit side. I don't care about individuals, just win the game.

The ferals on yellowandblack.com.au are saying that we will get the wooden spoon and lose by 67 tonight. They also think that we are uneducated and unwashed.

I nearly choked myself with laughter.
I feel sorry for them, really. The boys just cannot lose tonight, if they have any backbone at all they will get the job done and move on to the Gabba next week.

Caaaarn the blues!!!!!

As a matter of interest, its goodbye to Richo tonight. Love him or hate him, he was always good value, especially when kicking for goal.

At Carlton we have a long memory...

They upset SOS's 300th, so it's time to repay them with a good ol' spanking on Richo's farewell game........
