ADP... you've seen more of Cloke than any of us.

His position....... :?:

Forget about his height... what position has he played predominantly throughout his career?

If you look at this, http://stats.rleague.com/afl/stats/play ... Cloke.html
he had a grouping of 10 games out of 11 where he kicked at least one goal. In the first four of those games his hitouts are in single figures and the rest are double figures So maybe for those first few games he was playing as a forward and then maybe he played as a ruckman who was rested in the forward line.

Yep, bit of a mixture by the sound of it, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cameron_Cloke

Poached him by offering 2 years while we were only prepared to give him 1.

IMO he was extremely lucky to have ANY offers at all.

And if Collingwood didn't offer him 2 years, where would he be?

Lets keep the IF scenario going.....

If French and Deluca didn't retire, we wouldn't have Cloke and we would have delisted Bryan. Deluca is better than Bryan and that doesn't say much for poor Bryan. Collingwood should have chased Deluca.

Bryan is ordinary (should be near his peak) and Collingwood have him for two years.

Cloke on the other hand is 4 years away from playing his best football. 8)

Chris Bryan would have been delisted by Carlton if ADL hadn't retired, so he is extremely lucky to get any contract, let alone 2 years. Cloke is our last picked and we wouldn't have had that pick if it wasn't for ADL retiring and Bryan going, but I can't see how we lose in this.

Bryan was struggling to get a game for the Ants, let alone the worst side in the AFL. He is not tall enough, for a ruckman, mistimes his leap and drops most marks he is in position to take. In two years as a mature age recruit he failed to make nearly ennough of his chance, was unfit and lacked intensity. DP and Mitch probably don't agree on much these days, but they both agreed that Bryan wasn't an AFL footballer.

Best of luck with him ADP, but I'd rather C Cloke. I expect neither will be on an AFL list in two years

I can't disagree with any of that.

Bryan IS ordinary.

Cloke IS 4 years away from his best.

Just a couple of questions, though:

1) At 24 years old, why is Bryan at his peak but at 22 years old, Cloke is still 4 years away?

2) In 4 years, will Cloke still be listed by any team other than Vermont or North Ringwood?

I've only ever seen CAMERON Cloke played in the ruck off the bench, and was drafted as a ruckman.

Im sure I haven't seen every game he's played, but I STRONGLY DOUBT he has ever played CHF for the Collingwood firsts OR even as a junior.

Am I missing something? The guy is a short, shit ruckman....... hate him all you want but he's not a KPP.

He's a short, shit ruckman!!!

I am sure he was drafted as a CHF from eastern ranges via Park Orchards.....he came to prominance as a ruckman due to Collingwoods injuries when they lost Fraser and Richards.....Cloke rucked ok for a while and then the Pies took Fanning off the rookie list and promoted him.
Cameron Cloke when recruited was likened to Jonothan Brown due to his strong build....I dont remember him being recruited as a ruckman....it was as a CHF/Kpp.....his lack of mobility and poor conversion in front of goal didnt help his CHF prospects with the pies either.....
I would call him a ruckman by default......

Pretty sure he was drafted as a ruckman... he was the ruckman option of the brothers...

and Jarusa, I've only seen him play in the ruck or bench. Then again, I don't watch every Collingwood game

In my mind though he's only ever been a ruckman which, by default, makes him a ruckman.

Neither Bryan nor Cloke are worthy of so much chatter.

My theory was that Bryan is nudging 25, the year most footballers hit their peak. He has shown he is not an AFL footballer. Good luck to him anyway.

I thought Cloke was only 21 therefore I assumed 4 years away. Thanks for the good news, we only need to wait 3 years now. 3 years of solid improvement.

If Cloke can stay out of the nightclubs he will come good. It is up to him now, nobody else. A famous father can only get you so far. There comes a time when Cloke needs to pull his head in, work hard and become the next Kouta. That time is now

Either are Fridays and Zantuck.

At least this thread (only real active one at the moment) is giving me something to do other than work.

Your memory is better than mine...my apologies.. a ruckman he is..
The following is taken from the realfooty.com draft guide...

43 Cameron Cloke (father-son) Eastern Ranges, 17, 194cm, 89kg
Developing young ruckman who played in Vic Metro's win in U18 championships and Eastern Ranges’ win in TAC Cup. Son of David.

The perfect fit. Packers have been looking for a decent punter for a few years now. Probably needs to quicken the time he releases the ball, and his peripheral vision of special teams rushing him will scare the shit out of him, but has a super leg and every chance to improve and succeed.
