Bugger!

We will be leaving on Friday to go to Sydney, but won't be able to get there till late evening due to work.

Would have been nice to see the boys train and play as well...

Oh well I can still look forward to seeing the game live at least. Hopefully we wont have too many problems getting a car pack at the ground - I tried getting an idea on what parking there is like and I am still waiting to hear back from the Blacktown Olympic Stadium guys

Just spoke to a mate at GWS - parking will be $10 and parking will be very limited - you have to get in early. There will be shuttle buses operating to and from the station from what I was told (i assume doonside).

Thanks Mark - yeah I new about the fee and the shuttle bus. Your right it does operate from the doonside station.

Do you know if you are allowed to bring fold up chairs into the ground??

You might be better off going to Bigfooty or the Swans board to try to get tickets.

Apparently NSW supporters are 2nd class citizens and whinge and complain.

Personally I think some on this board are getting precious and take the Blues for granted. As a supporter who jumped on board in the late 90's/early 2000's and not having much success over the years, as someone who stuck with the Blues even though the administration of the Collins and Smorgon years was appalling, to think we may be turning the corner and yet those interstate get shafted.

Disappointing. Taking things for granted are what got this club into its predicament in the first place.

If Friday is on, I will be there. And for you Victorians who think of interstate and international supporters as poorer cousins, you're just more religious, correct!? I am sick of some people on this forum thinking that non-Victorian supporters are "not as good" as Victorian ones because we don't go to see many games.

The club can do better than continue to satisfy the cravings of people with that mentality than by fulfilling their appetite.

Great points you make about a minority, and also about the club.

You get flower in every club.
Last time Carlton played in Sydney, me and couple of mates had to pull a few Carlton ferals in line.
If there was no security around.......well put it this way, lucky they were Carltonians. Where there is a will there's a way. They behaved thereafter...flower nevertheless.

Poorer cousins? I don't let that worry me because I probably have played more footy, seen Carlton more and some years get to see just as many Carlton games as the big heads do. I've definetely seen as many Premierships as anyone else (except for those who were there at the Bloodbath in '45).

I'm a proud Melburnian who happens to live in a great spot in OZ called Bondi. It's just another phase in my life. One thing that's for sure is that there is no Carltonian more Carlton than me as far as I'm concerned.

I think the club should respect that with this national game comes interstate travel and therefore presence. Sponsors like to put money into AFL clubs which give them national exposure. The more members on board, the greater the leverage for each club and so on.

The CFC officialdom are doing themselves no favours if they do nothing to grow the CFC brand nationally. Ignore your interstate fans at your peril Kerna and Swanny. Take a leaf out of Hawks record memberships (6000 or 9000 are from Tassie).

Ask the players when playing interstate how much they value the QLD, NSW, WA and SA support they receive at away games...and don't forget the following CFC has in Tassie, ACT and NT. They all count as supporters and members are members wherever they are. Treat them all equally and with respect.

In fact when you go to games in WA nd SA, fair dinkum you'd think at times it was a home game for the Bluebaggers such is the strength of the interstate support. Note SUPPORT.

Last time CFC came to Sydney, Stevens and Kouta brought first year player Murphy along for the experience. I, like many others spoke with Smurph, and he said he was surprised at how many Carlton fans lived in Sydney, and appreciated the passion, commitment and loyalty they all displayed. Made him feel at home.

That was a great turn out at the Royal and the footy clinic at the High School was a huge hoot for all there. Unfortunately for Carltonians living out west the venue was too far to attend for them. So a central location for a function is a smart thing for the club to organise. It's a no brainer. Sow the seeds.

Lets stick together.

I'm going to training at Blacktown, even though it'll take 90 mins to get there...and 90 to get back.
I'm going to the game in my CFC jumper and look forward to meeting any other TCers there too.

As for you Bondi Mattress, I have pm'ed you before...don't know if you look at pm's...I'll see what I have left tomorrow.

Cheers Mark No 3 for the tickets

I am a proud Victorian as well bondi and I agree we should see ourselves as a truly national brand instead of existing mainly in the Victorian bubble.

So much opportunity with our great support across the country. If we had a real presence in all capital cities we'd have a mammoth membership base IMO.
Victorian members and the CFC board need to recognize this and service other cities with more games and functions to grow our brand.

I agree. Hell there amount of born n bred South Aussies / West Aussies etc that follow the Blues is astonishing. I have always thought about contacting the club and seeing if they want to give me a job as a Membership Manager for the SA / WA / NT region.

The Crows have a Melbourne office where ex pats and Victorian Crows supporters can get assistance etc. The Blues should do the same.....

Like Bondi and others here and despite living in Syd since the end of 87 I still refer to myself as a Victorian and will till the day I die.

And Bondi take to cross city tunnel, over or under the bridge then the lane cove tunnel and m2/m7 then take the Great Western Highway exit (after richmond road) - If it takes you more than an hour you drive like an old man.

I'll be heading there to the training session I think.

Happy to meet with any TCers at the place. PM me if you do with mobile number.

I haven't got any points left on my license.

Everytime I lost 1 point in Victoria for going over by 5kph, it would translate as a deduction of 3 points on my NSW license.

So, I have too much to lose and as a result I drive like a cautious man.

But thanks for the direction, I have used that route before, and forgot about it. I don't travel too far from Bondi whilst in Sydney....tolls, breathylisers, road rage, congestion....all puts me off driving.

Sounds OK to me Gez.

I'll be taking the train in from work at Alexandria so I'd be happy for some prematch drinks at the RSL or wherever.

Starting to get really excited about this now, only wish I could make the training session tomorrow

cool i think we are planning on getting to the club somehere between 5 and 6 (depning on hwne we leave and the traffic on the way up). hopefully meeting for a pre game drink and then getting some a taxi to the ground.

can't believe the RSL hasn't organised some sort of shuttle to and from the ground to the club.

it would drag a lot of people through the place.

I'm heading to training in a few moments.

Going to the game for the 5pm footy clinic for the kids, so I'll be at the ground pretty early.

Have organised a designated driver, so looking forward to a couple hooligan soups when at the game.

The other side of the ground where the pie vans are also has a VB van - saw it after I left - so KKs suggestion of where to meet looks spot on.
