Whatever it was that it brought up, I've watched every single video on it.

GreatEx, I was doing the holidays cleaning & stumbled across this in the archives. Give it a go.

Thanks CK. I just tried that now, but there was no response. I think the fact that the URL is http not https might mean my work would reject it anyway. No drama, just means shorter posts and more auto correct shenanigans :)

Hi All,

Back in April 2023 we put the call out for contributions for web hosting and you guys were awesome in your response.

Unfortunately funding ran out in July and Camel and I have funded the last two months. As of right now, we still need approximately $100 per month to keep the lights on. I know times are tough but if you can manage a contribution of any size to assist in hosting this site it would be greatly appreciated.

Bank details are as follows:

BSB: 923-100
ACC: 315 550 594
NAME: Liam Camilleri

If you choose to leave your username in the reference field, Camel or I will add you to a 2024 TC Sponsorship Group.

Update:

Things are slowly progressing with regards to moving the website to a cheaper host. As you may recall, this site is running on some very old software, software we have to update before we can move. As the software is really old its proven to be a bit of a task. Luckily Headplant has been chipping away at the updates in the background with an expectation that we should be able to fully updated by about November of this year. Thanks Headplant.

We've also discovered some other issues with the site, things that have affected our emails and also Google ad revenue. We are working through those issues and hope to see a little bit of a spike in funds which unfortunately have dropped from over $200 per month at its peak, down to about $8 per month.

Thanks for taking the time to read.

Following on from chucky's post above, which was made in September last year…

I renewed the domain today, which takes us through until Feb 2028.

We have a shade over $300 in the kitty and at current conversion rates hosting is costing us around AU$130/month.

I can't give you an update on server or site upgrades, we'll need some feedback from chucky and Heady for that.

Anyway, we've got another couple of months of hosting in the kitty and will need some contributions soon to keep the lights on.

(Thanks everyone for another year of keeping this site ticking along.)

Hi Guys, I maybe stating the obvious, but have you thought of getting a month’s subscription for Claude and using the new Opus 4.6 to migrate the code base?

If it can build a c compiler from scratch in a few weeks then migrating our code base should be doable.

Thank you all (and Headplant too) for your contributions. And sorry it has taken me so long to acknowledge you.

Today is the first time I've logged in this year and I hate to say I haven't missed the site at all. It is in desperate need for new admins to take control of everything.

Anyway, we currently have a bit over $450 in the account, the monthly fees are coming it just under 140AUD on current exchange rates.

Yep, in this context I am IT illiterate, so your suggestion seems plausible to me, but someone with a clue will need to do the legwork. That's not me.

I bet the reporters who used Claude to write their own monday.com didn't know how to properly test the resultant code. Testing and debugging, as well as getting a handle on how to use the AI code gen agents, can be a significant issue. The AI agents are not flawless.

I know folks who have used them and love them, but also know others who who have found them way below the hype. It depends on the training.

I've been working on updating everything to phpBB v.3.3.15, the current phpBB version. It's tricky because the codebases are quite different due to the responsiveness improvements for mobile devices.

Unfortunately it has been a lot slower than I originally anticipated due to my own computer related body issues!! As well as some great difficulty with my lovely ski instructor wife trying to get me off all devices, which is not possible as science and technology has beeen a passion for most of my life.

As I have said elsewhere, the AI and scam robot problem is universal, unfortunately. They are bogging down the world, and consuming huge amounts of time, energy and resources.

I'm also using some AI to help a bit, but am wary of its weaknesses.

As Fox Mulder said, trust no-one!!

Thanks Heady, I'm not into coding and don't envy you your task.

Fair enough, I wasn’t recommending it as a panacea, just as an automation tool to speed up some tasks.

I tried claude for code, paid version, and it ran out of "memory" before it could present a simple code set for me

Got frustrated and decided it wasnt ready for the real world yet
