Gee talk about making it difficult to understand. I get that this might be seen as transitional so the rules end up in the longer term the same as the mens, but wow...

VFLW-related...could be the worst set of match 'highlights' in the history of sport.

But well done on the win.

Went to the match simulation against Melbourne on Saturday which was quite disappointing. The team was badly cut up on the outside by Melbourne's run and struggled to move the ball either by run or chains of possession. We did not hit up targets well and there was little link play. It may be a case of Melbourne being a strong side but on that showing the team looks like it needs a lot of work to be compettitve this season.

Watching the AFLW practice match against Sydney on the live stream, again worrying signs. Last week the reigning premiers pantsed us, this week it is a team that struggled last year well on top of us. Haven't been able to get the score on the board, blown a couple of good chances, but still in general play being beaten to my eye. Could be a long season.

Much improved 3rd quarter and finally got results on the scoreboard, thanks largely to Moody who kicked our first 2 goals. 8 points down at 3QT but with the momentum.

Pressed hard in Q4, got to within a goal but lost by 9 after they goaled after the siren.

Much improved on last week, but the quality of opponent much reduced. In particular we were much better outside the contest this week.

Moody huge as usual, usual suspects stood except for Vescio who I thought was generally quiet. Mia Austin looked good as did the 2 new Irish girls especially Erone Fitzpatrick, they both add run and speed and if they are on an upward curve look out opposition.

Overall more light on the horizon than last week, or indeed half time, but we need to get value for our forward entries. With Vescio, Austin and Skepper up forward and Moody drifting forward we have the talent, the defence is solid and the midfield has quality individuals so there is something to work with.

Not expecting much from this team this season, and difficult to get enthused about the comp. The least I've been enthused in the history of AFLW. Oh well.

Found the attempted use of the correct pronoun in the commentary very confusing

Yep, as did the commentators. Some call Darcy she, others calling her/them they.
When they're commenting that "they" are keeping the corridor open, I thought they' were talking about the team. But they were talking specifically about Darcy.

Sorry ladies but everything about AFLW makes it very very difficult to watch.

Commentary and presentation is as big a put off as the poor skills and footy (barring flashes of individual brilliance)

Shit product, for a start please shrink the ground.

North a little too strong today.

Eleven times as strong, actually.

Unfortunately, from what I saw (last quarter), North's skills were excellent.

Some AFLW teams are simply a level above the others.
Melbourne and North both highly skilled compared to Carlton who play like a KDL reserves side.

OMG these girls are like primary school girls compared to other teams.
They have no fitness, are lost out there and are tiny.

I think we made a huge mistake with this new coach - Buck. He was internal already so we dont have fresh eyes.

IE He is playing Moody who is an all Australia Ruck in the forward line. Jess Good is so stiff and has no get up and go or athlestism is main ruck.

Its going bad and he make NO changes at all.

We only lost by 60 points and i say only because Harriet Cordner was amazing and score would have been worse off if it wasnt for her.

So much for equilisation in this Womens league. We lost all our good players and got nothing in return.

No draft last year as they were all mature agers. And this year apparently the newish teams have access to best players again due to a loophole. And they are already way better than us.

I support the womens league, but Carlton are really hard to watch. We got one goal in the last few minutes from a free. Not even any rushed behinds or any real meaningful scoring attempts. Imagine how bad we were ??
