Keeping does not miss kicks, drop chest marks and throw the ball. No point in having a plan if it cannot be carried out due to poor skills.

Nor he is wearing that jumper.

Perhaps he should have focussed on miskicks, chest marks and hand balling in the off season instead of zones.
It was obvious in our first game we'd been working hard on setting zones. The players are part time. Development should be the primary focus, not showcasing the structural capacities of the coach.
Too many players have little understanding of one on one defending which kills you on the turnover.

Display this garment at the Club with this plaque:

"The Guernsey which saw the opposition kick a record score in the AFLW and win by a record margin, saw an oppostion player kick a record number of goals in one game, and saw Carlton scoreless in three of the four quarters played, booted out of the top 4 and have its percentage smashed."

(Maybe it's better we did wear this after all.)

Last time a Carlton player kicked the team's entire score?

Are Carlton really that dependent on Davey?

It would seem so.

Fair enough, no more ranting.

Do you like the jumper, or have any thoughts on it?

I don't mind it at all. Plus it really means something to a good chunk of our playing list who are gay (hell our captain and her partner play for the blues) so it is great for them... pity about the performance though.

Clearly the womens footy dept have got things terribly wrong re our onfield performance.

Surely back to absolute basics and free up the players until this train wreck of a season is over and then make some serious changes.

Just hope we haven't killed the faith of Carlton fans re the AFLW.

From a purely aesthetic viewpoint, or otherwise?

The fact that it's such a short season and that the players aren't even full-time Carlton players (and play a greater number of games with their 'regular' clubs) means it's a very different competition to the men's. More of our players' development - time-wise at least - comes from outside the Club it would seem.

The length of the AFLW season will increase from next year with the addition of new teams, but it is planned to have teams eventually play each other twice, right?

We were missing a fair chunk of our list last night (the Bulldogs had some significant outs too), so depth of talent is an issue.

Not sure the Harris trade was worth it, and I'd say the Club was looking at it from more than just an on-field perspective.

What is the average length of player contract in the AFLW?

I actually think the jumper is excellent.

It's odd how far we've fallen off this year. We were a solid side last year, and recruited a quality forward and back-line player and whilst we lost a couple of players, they weren't match-winners... We really should be better.

Injuries have not helped, but all sides have injuries...

Has the rest of the comp just gone past us, or are we so lacking confidence that even the little things are proving too hard?

All contracts are only for 1 season, probably until after 2020 when there are 14 teams playing they might extend contracts to two or three years.

All vic clubs now have a VFLW team (including us) so a bunch of players will remain blues in the aflw offseason and play for us, although some big names will probably return to their old clubs while the new recruits play for us to develop tactics and game plans.

Like last year there will be a number that each club has to delist and the vic clubs will also have to give up a number of players to Geelong and North with a points system involved.

It certainly seems as though tactically we are battling to combat what the other teams are doing, BUT I think we also need to consider the context of the side that was fielded. Missing were 3 of last season's top 4 in the B&F (Davey, Hardiman, Loynes) as well as Harris. I appreciate Brennan and Huntington were both missing for the Dogs, but with list depth still wafer thin across all AFLW teams taking 2, 3 or 4 of the best players out of any team is going to have a much bigger impact than it would should the same thing happen in a men's game.

Both aesthetically and in keeping with tradition at its core.

Can we move on now?

I think it looks good, and am firmly in favor of the message.
