If something gets hyped up and promoted it shouldn't be beyond criticism, apologies if it annoys you.

Criticism is fine. The same tired lines being repeated over and over - long after the point's been made - is extremely irritating.

No point harping on it though, as it'll just result in yet another hijacked AFLW thread.

Two weeks for a deliberate kick in the groin, bloody hell. Christian says the short AFLW season played no part in the sentence either, would have been the same in the AFL too. Now that sets an interesting precedent.

Times have obviously changed. Kicking used to be the most vile thing a player could do, it was a step too far for most even in the most violent of times in the VFL. Once someone was labelled a "kicker" it followed them for their career. And to kick someone in the groin, even that kicker Lou Richards was only an ankle tapper. Ted Whitten was one of the dirtiest (and best) players I ever saw. He used to stomp on a player's foot quite intentionally, did serious harm on more than one occasion, but I never heard of him kicking someone in the groin.

The number of converts from other sports in the AFLW is still pretty high, it needs quite a few years to develop now that it's given young girls something to strive for.
In the park around the corner from home I saw a 14-15yo girl by herself practicing picking a bouncing footy up at pace just a couple of days ago, this is the sort of thing the AFL will have been hoping for.

Agree Wojee - great that girls now have a pathway - can generally play at whatever level but also strive for top level -all on board for this and how it should be - good if it gets greater support among women for the club and game- great that AFL is supporting

However it is overhyped beyond comprehension - reality check is the latest ratings on 7 and no one gets charged to go see the game - will find its level and hope people continue to support it but not particularly interested myself - and did watch first game but got a pretty MEH feel about it given scoring but also standard of footy and pace of the game so wouldn't be rushing back to watch any time- so as a passionate blues supporter not phased at all whether Carlton win or lose - when the most exciting /talked about bit of the game is a kick to the groin -not much to recommend it -But as I stated earlier do support it for reasons set out above
