Hope they don't go too over the top with the hoopla like the Big Bash.
Nobody will take it seriously.

I'm already copping jokes at work.

Who will captain the womens team? Murphy or Daisy?
etc etc etc

I like the idea of making their jersey design silghtly different, somehow, in a meaningful way.
Similar to the Northern Blues, etc

However I don't think a pink monogram is a good idea.

So do you think Daisy will earn the nickname "Dale" in the women's comp?

The time of year means that it will be a good lead in to the extended season for players that are eligible. eg. Gibbs, Boekhorst and Everett

Moderators need to create a new index on the TalkingCarlton board. I would avoid "TalkingChicks" though.

In all seriousness, this is great news. I was chatting with my 5yo daughter last night- she does Auskick and she went to school and told her teacher that she no longer wants to be a fairy/dancer anymore and IS NOW playing for Carlton in the AFL.

Father-Daughter rule gets interesting here.

Surely, one of them will be able to hit a target?

Does this mean that in a few years time a Carrazzo can finally win the NRS award playing for Carlton?

He actually passed a football to one of his daughters but it's out of shot lying at the girls shoelaces.

I am over the moon Carlton will field a women's team as a foundation club (again).

Here in Sydney our team where Mark Maclure came from, the Eastern Sydney Bulldogs we have 60 women playing for the first time this year. The standard is really good and there's a bit of agro shown

Keep our jumper with something on it to acknowledge the women's team, sure.

Doesn't seem to be a long enough season. 8 weeks?

My family will make the effort to watch a few of their games each year.

Now we have The AFL Blues, The VFL Northern Blues, and The AFL Women's Blues. I love it.

Go Blues.

Acutally Bondi UNSW have had two teams for a while now.

Rod Waddells former club also has a womens team and our own Kaptain Koutas wife if playing the Sydney competition this year.

Wow, go Mrs Kouta!!!

Women's footy is all new to me...didn't even know it was taken serious till I watched the Demons v Doggies game and was well and truly impressed. The girls are seriously good footballers.

My guess is there'll be a slight alteration to the guernsey. Good for merchandising and revenue.
Maybe a pink monogram, although every team seems to just put in a dash of pink to make it a female guernsey.

Yeah. We are the Navy Blues, not the Blue and Whites.
