FWIW, I don't think Hawthorn know as much as you think they do.

Their new training ground down at Dingley is going to be built on an old tip. Awesome.

I don't understand the negativity toward Carlton making a bid for a women's team.

Congratulations Carlton Football Club! This is a massive free kick. Whether you will watch it or not - it's a very good thing for the footy club. Kudos to Steven Trigg and Kate Jenkins. Hopefully the league can grow, be well managed and eventually be curtain raisers to the main event on a regular basis.

Ms Agro, is certainly very happy about this - and if it happened 5 years ago she would have been in the mix to pull on a jumper - which would have made her grumpy old father very proud.

Fantastic that we now have a women's team!!!

Well done to staying relevant Blues. I had my doubts that they could pull it off. It is a wonderful 21st century addition.

Now who is our first signing?!

And which player do we all agree is hopeless?!

Go Blues!! x2

a very confused idea that will distract our club from the main game of winning premierships and drag us down financially of an already weak club

swans hawthorn and geelong are not involved and so they will keep going on their merry way and collect Premierships for the next 10-20 years

Our social media team might need to wake up on this. Nothing through as yet.

Haha, it's called being progressive. Collingwood really wanted it and so did Geelong, only one of them received an inaugural license.

In case you hadn't noticed, females are the majority in the population. Females only make 28% of our membership, Geelong is close to 40%.

Proof will be in the pudding but it's an exciting opportunity if you can remove yourself from your male thought bubble

1. The AFL are bankrolling foundation clubs licences.

2. If done properly - this investment should provide return in a multitude of ways. Think sponsors that have major crossover appeal. Think young females who are already kicking a footy in the backyard.

3. Geelong are seething. They engaged Boston Consulting to do their submission.

I am not sure why it is a confused idea. The idea of having a womens team in a new competition is straight forward I would have thought. Every business needs to look at opportunities to grow and increase exposure and this is a great win for the club.

Go Blues!

the afl has about 80million debt bankrolling of current clubs

carlton joining says nothing about winning premierships - just an embarrassing idea from city hall adopted by our compliant board with the AFL's aim to make money (with no assurance that money will be made) masquerading as a political agenda.
