i wouldnt get to excited about Banos form he was the lose man across half back.

Paul Bower is still 1 or 2 years away from making any impact at AFL level. He's kicking sometime leaves a lot to be desired. I have seen him quite a bit at training and practice games and he seems to kick to the wrong side of the contest. I would hate to see him thrown in the team before he is ready and cop the same sorta shit that Tex has received about he's kicking.

37 deserves a go in the ones Bower is a good way off yet as is Kennedy who looked spent towards the end of the game.

I have to say and its only early days but i was not impressed with Kennedys game. He is a big unit and not very quick, and at ground level pretty useless. You could say im being a little hard on the kid but with the way footy is played these days taller players are not as valuable as they once where.

Pace is a becoming the key factor when recruiting the modern day footballer, long gone are the days you can stack your forward line with talls as now most teams get numbers back and just clear the ball out easily like the hawks, swans and bulldogs.

Im not doubting his ability and im sure he is a talent and he has only played 1 and a half games, my issue is more to do with the current form of footy and how it doesnt suit talls. I hope this year we recruit running midfielders and inject pace into this side for years to come

I've got to say I'm worried that Kennedy might not be any good. I didn't see the game yesterday, and I realise that its only 1 match I'm not basing this on, but I got out my Tarot cards and asked about Kennedy's career and the Death card came up. Now, given the way footy is played these days, i just can't see him overcoming that.

I think Lorraine Diggins is right. I would never give the number 5 to a Death card player.

I watched yesterdays Bullants game on the ABC great win it was and well done to Bano, Livo and Wiggo. I was impressed with Young Paul Bower this kid has a promising future with the blues no doubt, i know it was only one game but he stood out for me. He has strong attributes to become a good player his great hands, good judgement, backs himself, runs off half back with some pace and good disposal. He looks the natural footballer and not an athlete.

I was at the game & was impressed with his run out of the backline too. A couple of times though he seemed to run just that little bit too far & as a result had no-one to kick to as the Williamstown defenders had time to drop back & cover the leads. This will no doubt improve though with experience.

Bannister should get a promotion to the ones after that game.....his marking and dash out of the back line was reminiscent of Ang and McKay at their best.

I couldn't care less where he was playing or why he was playing; he was still clearly the best player on the ground by a country mile. He had a job to do and he was unbeatable. I love it when players have a great day; and there's always someone who'll find a reason to downplay their good game.

I agree with you here BB, but I don't think we'll have to worry about him being thrown in anytime soon thankfully.

I though Bower showed something..more of a Michael Sexton type to me though than a true CHB but his mobility is a plus in todays running game and I think he can add something to our team when he matures and gets senior selection..dont think he will be ready this year though and needs more time to learn how to read the game... re: Bannister....played well and his marking is a feature....deserves an opportunity in the seniors...I think he has the skillset to be a player in this new type of game we are seeing..has a good engine and is a nice size for a running half back/tagger......his disposal and decision making is where he needs to show he has improved....was also impressed with his attitude when he spoke on the ABC...understands that youth has been preffered and he has to work harder in what could be his last season...I hope he makes it cos he seems a nice young bloke and I like seeing players who put in on the track get the rewards....

I thought Kennedy and Bower showed promise too and agree they're both quite a way off at this stage. Kennedy missed some very simple set shots at goal....I hope it was nerves.

The long kicking game is not dead at all. Richmond used it against Brisbane and the Lions had no answer to the tall timber. Josh Kennedy is going to be a super player for this club. The criticism of him is unfair. Cameron Cloke regarded by Collingwood as their next best thing failed to make any impact for Williamstown yesterday. Does this mean he can't cut it in the AFL? Kennedy and Bower are 18 year olds and everyone expects them to play like Wayne Carey and Barry Hall. Give the kids a break. We have gone down the path of a youth policy so be patient.

After this years draft you will see a huge influx of KPP talent that in 3-4 years will see the game evolve back to traditional Pagan style of kicking it long to a contest. If you watched the last 10mins of the Bulldogs and Cats game they were buggered and reverted to bombing it long, now if either team had a decent forward to take a mark then we may of had a completely differert result. What better example of the value of a KPP player than Lance on Friday night.

My tarrot cards said he was going to have two kids, and an affair with a Danish princess come queen obssessed with Carlton football players who wear the number 5 jumper. Could not get a reading on his football career but I am happy to go along with Ballistic's assessment.
