Post subject:  Can someone tell me the Truth?

Guys I travelled to Qld on the weekend to see my daughters and only got to listen to the game. Given I only had one headphone in so I could pay attention to my girls I missed alot. I missed the 1AW injury and other bits. It seems that losing Livo hurt alot(livo bashers tell me Im wrong) but also late in the game Barney seemed to be rested as did stevo at crucial stages and it really hurt (I really hope we unearth a ruckman soon).

Anyway Im really interested in knowing where we lost it and how we really performed ie can we match it and it was just a bad day or do there seem to be be glaring deficiencies other than the ruck and a key defender?

Sorry if this has been covered but I just got back and would appreciate all opinions.

Thanks

Mark

We just weren't switched on from the start, Mark.
North chased harder, harassed harder and tackled harder.
Some of our disposal was poor and we basically never looked on song all day.
The Super Coach certainly did his homework on us and negated the influence of Fev and Lance to perfection.
With the lack of tall defenders that the Bombers have, I expect Sheedy to do the same.

We just didn't have the run today.

In the Wizard Cup we'd run the ball out of the backline and there were options everywhere, we just didn't have that today.

North also had players behind the ball which made this difficult. Pagan needs to work out a Plan B when teams stack their backline against us.

It was good to have it shown up so we think about ways to counter it.

It wasn't about gameplans - it was about being switched off, which led to a drop in intensity, to poor choices and to sloppy disposals. We should have been three goals up at quarter time but we weren't. Then we ran out of legs in the second half, never able to string goals together.

West Coast also struggled today. Both will be better next week.

I think we were switched off, hence the run not being there, but Laidley showed up the gameplan that worked in the Wizard Cup by stacking our forward line so when we did come forward with the ball there wasn't the space the Fev and Whitnall.

Should be easily fixed by running the ball quciker and not giving them the chance to get back, or by waiting and being a little patient (like they did)..which would clearly be an inferiour plan to getting the ball in quicker

I think that the wizard cup hangover was a factor in our loss.

Norths planning against our gameplan was also a afcor as well.

as long as we recover our hunger and develop a plan to thwart tactics like the Kangas, we should start to win a few games.

I happy to get into the eight, who wouldnt be. But in many ways Im not really worried if we dont make the finals, as long as we end the season with some young and well developed and well blooded new players paving the way for a more serious assault in 2006..

The fact that we couldn't buy a centre clearance certainly didn't help with the speed of our ball movement into our forward line, before it got really clogged up. I also thought that it cost us a little, that there was a return to the usual delay after behinds until the goal umpire had waved his flags. We must have kicked a couple of goals every week in the Wizard Cup from quick kick-ins and quick run and ball movement after opposition behinds. Whereas yesterday, it was a real struggle to get the ball moving quickly from deep in defence.

Thanks guys. Im not so worried now given it sounds like its a switched on type of problem so long as we dont take to long to switch on.

The Super coach? Good win, did his homework, but he certainly isnt "the super coach". North were always going to be a tough one for us, first up.

It's something myself and Cammo have labelled Dean Laidley.
