What a great game from this little pocket rocket.
Along with French, Kouta, Waite and Morrell, I thought Eddie's game was one of the few highlights of the day.

However, I think he should have got more game time in the first half.
The amount of times the ball was punched away from Fev and dropped right in front of the pack, Eddie would have had a field day with that and could have easily had 2-3 more goals.

Granted it was his first official game and Denis probably wanted to ease him into the game, but from what we did see yesterday, had Eddie been on in that first half he could have had a few more goals, which inturn may have shortened the margin which in turn may have won us the game.
However, I don't think we would have won either way.

Your thoughts?

Definitley PJ. His classy finishing would've helped us out and although Davies was good and was getting oppurtunities he wasn't finishing them properly.

I'm sure Betts could've gotten the same amount of oppurtunities and i'm sure he would've finished better.

Betts is a little champ though, the kids got talent

Been a while since we have had a good goal sneak. Welcome aboard Eddie, may your career be as spectacular as your first game.

I love him. His enthusiasm clearly spills over to the other players too.

He's damn quick! One minute there was no one anywhere near the ball player then in a split second ther's Eddie and it's all a blur.

I hope he maintains that attitude.

Eddy was the highlight of the game for me. He seems to have an in-built radar for where the goals are.

Has he got a nickname yet? Eddy the Exceptional perhaps?

Please Mr Pagan, more game time for Eddy in the future.

Meh, he does have talent

And he's just Eddie Betts, doesn't need a nickname. Like Bartlett said, it's not Betts, it's Eddie Betts :D :D

without being a wet blanket, I'm not sure that calling for more game time is justified. Quite often the zippy little goal sneaks don't have the gas to go the full four quarters, thus have to be used conservatively.

This might be the case with Eddie?

Maybe Denis already knows for sure, and isn't wanting to hurl a kid in the deepend just yet.

Baby steps with our youngsters now. No more crap like what we did to Livo in 2002.

Fair point, Deano.
I bushed across this in the Bombers vs Carlton thread.
I had Simmo coming in at the expense of either Davies or Carrazzo, with Simmo rotating off the bench and into the forward pocket with Betts.

Carrazzo and Davies did enough yesterday to stay IMO. I reckon Norman and Chambers in for Livo and Walks is enough change ATM. No need for panic just yet.
