Will the Irishman get a call up by Denis to play his first game of AFL this week against the Bombers? |

Denis hinted this at the press conference that Setanta & Karl were a good chance this week. Here's hoping!!! I think they'll both play. ![]() |

We certainly could use his size for the next couple of months. He's been itching for his opportunity and I reckon he's worth a shot. You know he WILL give it everything he's got.[/u] |

With Laycock and Hille almost certain to return, that would have Karl, Lance, Archie and French vs Hille, Laycock, Lucas, Fletcher and Allan. Now assuming the inform Lucas will play Centre Half Forward, so as to take advantage of his raking left foot, one of Laycock or Hille will take Full Forward while also rotating through the bench. I'd expect Karl to play CHB and Morrell to take Laycock/Hille. Leaves Allan to take on Archie and Barnie. Fletcher will be a certainty for Fev. If Setanta get's promoted, do we play him forward and stretch their lack of tall defenders or do we throw him in the deep end and play him down back to counter act the Bombers tall forwards? I'd throw him forward. He's been playing there for awhile now, while also playing in the ruck, and seems to be really settled there. So i other words, yes, promote him and unleash the beast. |

AFAIK could only be promoted if we have an 8 week injury. |

Yep, that certainly has to be taken into consideration. Which leads me to believe that either Livo or T-Bird will be out for 8 weeks +. Why else would Denis say that Setanta will come into consideration for this week? |

The forgotten man amongst all this is Brad Fisher. Now, there's little chance of him playing before mid-season let alone in the next eight weeks, so if we're going to promote Setanta, let's make it for Fisher, unless of course Livo's is a long-term injury, then we choose between Fisher and Livo. |

Gees I hope so. Those of us unable to make it to Bullants games and training have only seen Carlos in action last year wix cup v Geelong. I'm dying to see the release of the Irish Beast! |

I say get him out there, in the forward line next week. Assuming we can pass off Fisher or Thornton as an LTI. Looking at the Kangas game plan, with 2 or 3 guys in front of Fevola and Whitnall - an extra option like Setanta in the forward line as well as Eddie Betts crumbing the loose balls would do the Trick I think. Theres only so many forward guys that can be held at once. I think that Setanta up forward would make it very hard for the Essendon* defenders. |

If he does get promoted I think play him forward and leave DeLuca permanently in the back line. I'm not sure it would do Setanta or Carlton any good throwing him straight into the deep end. IMO best to ease him into it. |

Won't know until injury has been scanned. |
