If this is the team as reported for Sunday, then there are a number of dissapointed boys right now. In fact there a few dissapointing boys too, but that is another matter. I don't think too many are unlucky this time around. None of the 'wilderness' guys have been smashing the door down to get in. Hartlett if fit would hopefully have got in otherwise he would have been unlucky - along with Carlos. |

Russell being in the wilderness is a bit rough Brizzy. He has only played 5 minutes of senior footy. Surely he should be in the underdeveloped group. |

Looks like last years team. Bentick,McGrath and McLaren are certainties to play which means one of the other 3 boys is very lucky to be playing. I reckon Blackwell is a bit stiff to miss.We need some new blood in there besides Murphy. As for Russell not getting close to selection give this kid time.An other year in the 2s is not such a bad thing. The kid has talent but needs to bulk up a bit more.I have a feeling he will be a good player for us in the long run. Blackwell on the other hand is ready to play senior footy in my book. Spewing about Hartlett and O,Hailpin.I was excited about these 2 players playing.Hartlett is pretty stiff when it comes to injury just before the season begins. Saddington if he goes along well will come into contention. Without being over dramatic I hope that changes are made quickly if the same players @#$%&! up again on a regular basis. If this doesnt happens look out for even more negative comments on TC.I will be flower one of them. Anyway have got my ticket and will be yelling for the blueboys. The wait is almost over. |

As you can see from my confused smilies on both JR and Bear, I agree. I don't understand why they are forgotten ATM, cause they are both fit as far as I know. The other three will no doubt be gone at seasons end as well as a few from the last chance saloon that is our extended bench. ![]() |

Bryan is one that i hope gets some games this year. I really think he could have a crack at CHF. He is a good mark and massive kick. I think that Waite is still not big enough to play a crash and bash CHF style. |

Let's hope they are both given a chance to prove themselves throughout the season, although Bryan has pretty much been demoted with the recruiting of McLaren. |

Resting/second ruckmen play forward pocket at best and sit on the interchange bench at worst. Name another specialist ruckman who has tried his hand at CHF? About the only one I can think of is Alessio, and he wasn't really brilliant at CHF or in the ruck. Lucas is so much better than he was. Apart from that, you have Bandy who shone brightly at CHF for a year until injuries brought him undone, and Gardiner, JLo and Simmonds playing FF/FP. Deluca is a specialist forward whose height results in him filling in as a ruck. But what on earth says that Bryan can be a CHF rather than a FP? If he can kick 4 or 5 goals from that position in the VFL, then we could consider it. But if he can't dominate CHF at VFL level, why would you think he can be effective in the AFL in that position? |

Jimmae's Carlton Dream Team B: Saddo/Russell, Hartlett, McGrath/Edwards HB: Walker, Thornton, Lappin C: Simpson, Stevens, Carrazzo HF: Houlihan, Waite, Fisher F: Whitnall, Fevola, Betts R: French, Kouta, Murphy I: Bentick, Deluca, Saddo/Russell, Kennedy/Santy This is how, form permitting, I would like to see us line up. Saddo and Russell would both be in the team, just a matter of which one starts on the ground. After seeing pics of Edwards with a bit more meat on him I'm satisfied he could come in, unfortunately though he would push out either McGrath or Bentick at this stage but that's purely in the case of either suffering poor form, which looks unlikely going on pre-season/last year. It also relies on Deluca being able to ruck (sigh). Failing that Deluca then competes with Kennedy and Santy for a spot and McLaren gets the nod. I doubt there'd be any significant size/weight difficulties for these positions so it's pretty much form and injury that's holding us back from this sort of lineup. It's young, it's pacey, it's filled with mobile talls, there's some good strength in it and there's a few pushing for selection to keep players honest. We're probably at least a month away from seeing a lineup like this, in which time we could have a team morale breakdown. Here's hoping not. |

Wiggins better not play..... I wont go to the game if he does. I am sick of seeing shit in the team.... Livo wont cut it, can't cut it.... has done nothing in pre - season yet he is in for the first game... why? Does he really have a good record against Neitz... memory tell's me he kicked 9 on livo once and 2.5 another time.... Why is Chambers there? Why not Blackwell? How long are we going to play Walker in a negative roll? Come on Pagan, you know we are shit..... show us some kids.... take some risks.... we dont want to see the same shit from last year.... it's just gonna smell worse ![]() |

am also surprised that we are pretty much trotting out last year's team. totally agree with Keogh's comments about Blackwell - he is definitely ready to play AFL in my book, and is a class above most others on the list in the way that he uses the ball and selects the right option. Is he injured or something? |

Is he injured or something? No, don't think there's any injury for Blackwell, but he will be up against it for opportunity whilst they are giving Bentick a fair crack at starting centreman / swapping with Kouta. Whatever your views are on Chambers, Chambers offers something very different to Blackwell - receive and run. Maybe he won't cut it, but I get the impression at the CLub that they feel as though a number of players need to be given a chance at the start of the year, and if they muff it, well, I gather 'that's it'. If they perform, they keep their spot in the team. Wiggins, Sporn, Chambers + a few others. Livo is different. He's had a few good games on Neitz, not sure why someone would want to discount that, but I think he's only in as harlot is injured. It was clear pre-season that Hartlett would be given the go, but injury has come at the wrong time. If Livo keeps Neitz to a couple you'd have thought he would have done an OK job. |

Is it perhaps because of his size that Blackwell is not playing? I didn't see much of him during the pre season & IIRC someone may have mentioned that he has bulked up a little but he was very small last year. I wonder if Pagan thinks that it's too risky playing both Murphy & Blackwell together in the midfield as they are smaller players?? I think he needs a run though. |

It would be fantastic to see Livo get an entire season uniterrupted by injury. He would then be able to prove to all and sundry whether he is, or is not, up to the game. If he gets injuredagain this year... ![]() I don't want to fault Wiggins and Prender as people, but as worthy footballers for the Carlton Footbal Club and it's attempts to get back to being true finals contenders: NO. It's a NO. Sporn, I haven't got a clue. Sounds like the name a B-grade country & western song, possibly from a gay cowboy movie. Show us something week in, week out Trent. Don't come across as Houla's ugly brother with stick legs. Personally I'd be looking at Hartlett and Blackwell and Santy as near inclusions. Russell mid-season, hopefully Kennedy also. Edwards maybe a late season prospect. But I wouldn't want to see him thrown in the deep end like Livo early in his career and be expected to cut it. |

Is that the last good quote of the off-season, or the first good one of the new? I'm so confused ... |

I'd say Blackwell would be lucky to get more than a handful of games this year. Russell is on the cusp, just needs to show something in the VFL and he takes a spot on the bench. All of this relies on the team actually performing, or else we might see mass reshuffles. Here's hoping not. |
