Collo recently brought up the issue of Kouta's contract again. The club has been stating that they'll be cashflow neutral next year. The club had an operating loss of around $1 million last year. Anyone else thinking that this grand 3 year plan was to cut costs year 1, and then wait until Kouta's contract expired, and then hey presto, we're cashflow neutral. If so it's a pretty pissweak plan... |

Can't remember the exact figures but Kouta is supposedly earning $1 million this year. The cap is heading towards 7 million, and you have to spend over 90% of the cap total or it's a breach of rules. 1/7 * 100 = about 14.3% That's not the plan. |

I was thinking I reckon Collo and the board and stealing money! And Kouta never injured his knee and SOS could have played til he was 50 if he wanted to. |

1/7 * 100 = about 14.3% That's not the plan. Only 1/2 of that goes into the cap though. |

You have to spend 92.5% of the cap, so using the previous maths and adjusting it for Kouta's veteran status: 0.5/7*100 = 7.14% which is less than 7.5% you are not obliged to spend. In theory it could be the plan. |

ok, but the point is, from where I'm sitting at the moment, this seems to be at least a large part of the plan... |

It certainly would take a chunk away but then you've go to consider all these young players coming through, contract extensions, contract renewals. After this season quite a few of them could be well within their rights to expect a pay rise. So it might work out no different. |
