Often clubs talk about breaking the season into mini-seasons, to keep the short term focus strong, and also to allow goals to be re-set should things go bad. How will the Blues be after 5 rounds? Realistically I reckon 1-4... Melb v Carl = Melb win (they seem to chin us first up, plus we still a bit underdone) Freo v Carl = Freo win (they will be pumped for first home game) Carl v Syd = Syd win, only because we have the WA return game curse (otherwise reckon we may have had a shot at getting them 1st up - we weren't too bad against the swans at docklands until hall went nuts last time around) Carl v Haw = Hawks win (can't believe I am posting this, but think, sadly, true - they are a bit further in front of us at the moment) Rich v Carl = Carl win - reckon this could be number 1 for us. Is that all doom and gloom? Maybe not, if you consider how slow Sydney started last year. Then again, we really need some early wins to get the confidence going. I hope I am wrong, but I reckon it will be a tough first 5 weeks. As long as the boys try hard, show improvement and go close, I will be happy. |

Realisticly, we're 1-4 with a win against the Hawks. However if things fell our way we could beat everyone but Freo. Let's just cross our fingers and hope. ![]() |

Like all coach's say "were taking it 1 week at a time" Realistically, if we think we can't go out and win every game, whats the point of putting a team on the park until we can ? |

I also hope that the club takes the view that it can win every game - am talking more from a footy-tipping mindset. |

Zippity-doo-dah, zilch, nada !! We will win some games but later in the year, the game plan will need some work and there needs to be a couple of the new players graduate to the seniors. |

I think probably 1-4 with the win most likely to come against the dorks, but atm I am not even confident of that, though a good strong showing in round 1 even if we don't win could change things. Who knows what could happen with a bit spirit and belief amongst the boys? |

Exactly. But if we're going on raw head to heads at the start of the season - 1-4. |

2 wins. Tigers and Hawks. Magnificent result if we are 3 wins. |

There are no Excuses to be 1-4 and have a miserable year, yet again....The best approach is to take it week by week, but the boys need to lift... The first game is Kouta's 250, a Win must be made realistic to them.. its not impossible.... The second game is a loss and predictable.. The game against sydney is very winable....Your playing home, and Syd has a habit of a slow start, plus they are very vinerable in melb..... The remaining two games against hawthorn and Richmond should result in a win in one of them.... so realistically, i am hoping and expecting us to be 2-3 or 3-2.....anything less, i would be shaking my head for yet another year... keep in mind external factors such as injuries and form...... |

I reckon we will be 5 wins 0 losses. Of course I haven't seen a game of footy since 1995, but how different could it be. It is the Carlton Football Club and we always believe we can win. So it has to play out like this... Surprise win first up over Melbourne. Everyone is over the moon. Next. Fremantle team want to get rid of their coach and they think that the best way to do that is to lose a home game to this year's wooden spooners (that actually sounds like a sex toy). So they mutiny and we are 2 zip. Then we come back and face Sydney at this stage we are so pumped that we start to believe in us as a team again and people start to gel together. We get some free running, the forward line that we have always thought could be the best in the league proves to be sensation. The new recruits step up, the next bunch of players seem to finally finding their tempo. Sydney try to flood all day but we kick long all day to a forward line that somehow holds all its marks. We get over the line. Now we're three 0, having just knocked off three finalists. We face Hawthorn. We are very cocky going into this game and they end up 40 points up at 3/4 time. Pagan comes out and blasts us for taking our opponents for granted and reiterates that we should go back to basics. We do and we fall over the line by 1 point with a kick after the siren. Having been scared to death by current cellar dwellars, we are very primed and pumped when we take on the Tigers. We demolish them. 8 goals up at half time 20 by games end. How is that for realistic? What a tad over the top? Well, we are all just speculating at this point. The season could turn out to be anything. Confidence and belief go a long way. It is apparent that a lot of people on here are believing that we are crap at the moment and that might be true, but I'm [REDACTED] if I'm going into a new season with my only joy being securing the priority pick and the number 1 selection in this year's bumper draft.... Go Bluebaggers.... |

3-2 I Can't see what the fuss is all about with Melbourne. They had a worse second half of the year than us in 2005. Hawthorn - I can't find 22 people on thier list that could make up a league side (not including their injured recruits from last draft) Richmond - well they're still Richmond aren't they? |

3-2 with the possibility of 4-1 Melb Freo (Momentum from Melb win) Hacks Tigers Loss to sydney but ye should have a good go at home with two wins under the teams belt |

The last few posts are more like it! With a good run, there's no reason we can't be 4 - 1. Someone mentioned we will be rusty, as will Melbourne. Let's catch them while they are. Freo are flat track bullies. With a bit of physical impostion we can ruffle them. And there's no reason we can't get close to taking the other 3. Sydney are slow starters, especially away. We just have to make sure we make them play our game, not the other way round (I know, easier said than done). And we got close to taking them last year in a similar match. Hawthorn will be the surprise packet. We could thrash them, or they might get over us. Depends which Hawthorn turns up: The gold and brown, or the Shit and Piss. And by round 5 Richmond should be a bit of a rabble. Again, I think they will be more a surprise packet than people think. Best case? 5 - 0 Worst? 2 - 3 Still more than acceptable for the spooners from last year, wouldn't you say? |

As i said, I don't really care how many wins, as long as we show improvement, go close and try hard. (Things that were not always evident last year.) |
