That peak in 1999-2000 was not to dissimilar to the peak I had in my pants when I was watching him. As Bruce McAveny would say it was "Special".

Nothing wrong with stating the positives of Carlton's best (as evidenced by 2005 B&F) and most experienced, player. Much of the discussion is held about 'value' ,'accountability' and 'leadership'- 3 things that are all subjective and we'll never all agree on, but worthy debating nonetheless. The objective results have been presented by FootyGeek - can't really argue with them.

There'll be a lot written about Kouta this week. FootyGeek, a Mike & Dan interview up tomorrow (done by Dan!)...and a big press conference on Wednesday so probably some real press coverage on Thursday.

hey dannyboy, can you write a poem about him? there's lots to rhyme with Kouta:

* scooter
* rooter
* fluter (although i'm told its flautist)

Surely there's enough there for a big release later in the week?

Danny knows a lot about those, given the EXCESS MASTURBATION he indulges in

If rooting is going to be used it should be accompanied with the word "Essendon*". He well and truly ROOTED them in 1999.

that's an oxymoron moron!

how about Dear Old Kouta
was great when kids rode bikes
and i got a portable scooter
but know his knees are [REDACTED]
he's just a rooter,
roots his wife
and roots the club
with that million bucks he should
buy the capaincy of Collingwood
then dear old Kouta
could be a filthy black and white rooter!

We all know the Captain
Many call him Kouta
He's a midfielder of KP height
And a pretty fair straight shooter

Starting with the floppy hair
Emerging over the years
Pulling in skyscraper marks
Yet it's the running that endears

The 1995 Grand Final
Should have won the Norm
For it was his hard running
that really brought reward

And then in Ninety Nine
The legend was really borne
With marks, here, there
and everywhere
You should have seen him soar!

And then there were the bad times
Knee injuries and his father's death
That saw the great man struggle
We didn't see his best

Ran out again in 2005
With injuries in the past
Pulls in the Best & Fairest
In a year where we came last

So Kouta keeps on trying
He costs a lot no doubt
But when you're the best thing we've got
You wouldn't want him out

I'd much rather have him out there
And with the rest, we'll be more thrifty
So go on cheer the Great Blue Man...
Who will this week play 250!

Despite 2 knee injuryies "The Moral" 2000 Brownlow Medallist is still playing football at the highest level. Whilst the actual 2000 Brownlow Medallist  is displaying his talent, where exactly.

Another in the long line of Brownlow Medallists who should give it back to their rightful recipients.

1981 - Rod Ashman (probably being a bit harsh on Quinlan & Round)

1985 - Justin Madden - Brad Hardie

1993 - Greg Willliams - Gavin Wanganeen (how many votes do you get for 44 possessions.

2000 - Koutoufides - Woewoedin

Okay thats enough eye rolling for now.

There once was a man named Kouta
Whom I read about on the computer
Synbad hates his guts
"What he's paid is nuts!!"
"He's a crook, he's a crim, he's a looter!!!"

---------

There once was a boy from Lalor
Who angered a certain sailor
The rest of us say
"The boy can play"
"He's better than Brian Taylor!"

Win for the blue collar was Libba's brownlow.

One thing I'd just like to point out in Jars article - the suggestion that it was the first injury that ruined Kouta as we knew him.

It wasn't. It was the reco then the third injury, which in it's nature never completely heals, and is purely about management of the ligament. He was medically 100% in the knee and really started to hit his straps again in the finals series.

Had Knights not fallen on his knee we would have seen a 100% recovered (strength around the joint) Kouta in 2002. It generally takes 12 months of competition before a knee is completely solid again because it's very hard to simulate strengthing the joint across all angles of movement using weight machines.

So forever more I will be angry at Knights, because he fell across Kouta that day, and it's not like it was in high speed traffic, Knights was in a scrap, and he sat on Kouta's leg. Poor form you disgraceful little @#$%&!.

There was an old man named danny
Who sat all day on his fanny
Tapping away
With plenty to say
His thoughts on the game were uncanny
