Note what Craig says re: the following:
Quote:
"We give our players security, and that's good, but we have to make sure the other, negative aspect of it won't infiltrate people's minds. I want people here to actually value playing the game, to really value and cherish it. That's the psychology we want to develop."
How many of guys are actually having fun on the track and out on the paddock? Some seem to be just going through the motions because they get paid to do so.

He has identified precisely the type of player he wants - self-starters who can handle adversity and who want to be good, regular players.
That's what we want at Carlton. And there aren't that many who seem to be doing this. Simpson and Fisher are the two that spring to mind, along with Walker and Murphy. Betts apparently showed glimpses last night - but that's what we want.
Having said that, I doubt we could get to what Adelaide is doing with some of the leadership at the club. I'm not just talking the Anthony Koutoufides' and the Lance Whitnall's etc etc, I'm talking from the coaching staff. Denis should take a look at what Neil Craig does. The coaching philosophy has to change. You can't just be tough and carry a big stick without a carrot. At the moment, it seems Pagan just carries the stick and has no carrot. Whatever happened to basic positive reinforcement teaching strategies?
