Post subject:  Crystal Ball - End of Season Ladder

What does your final ladder look like? Mine has Carlton in all important 6th position, back in the finals!

Ive tipped Essendon* to miss out, I think they are on the decline. West Coast to nab first possie - think they're in for a hell of a year and will win the Wizz Cup regardless off if Carlton are in it or not.

1. West Coast
2. Port Adelaide
3. St Kilda
4. Brisbane
5. Sydney
6. Carlton
7. Geelong
8. Collingwood
9. Essendon*
10. Melbourne
11. Fremantle
12. Kangaroos
13. Western Bulldogs
14. Richmond
15. Adelaide
16. Hawthorn

Changes from last year: Carlton and Kangaroos in, Melbourne and Essendon* out.
The Bulldogs might also suprise a few but for now I have them at 13.

I reckon the Eagles are the go. Have a great list of young talent. The filth and the scum to continue their downward spiral.

Already taken my first bet for the season - The blues to finish higher than the Bombers. Do you reckon I am safe?

Do people seriously reckon that we can finish above Freo and Melbourne? I'd say with confidence that both these sides are currently better than us.

I think a lot of times ladder position has a lot to do with injuries, luck, the draw and other variables than pure team quality

I think u underestimate how much growth our players will undergo this year (and the physical development as opposed to a couple years ago) - have a look at the number of players that are in the 30-50 game mark - these are the ones who will drive us up the ladder

Personally I'm think the CFC will finish between 5th and 8th spot (I'll say 5th) and will make it to the prelim final :)

Didn't we just beat Melb?

Sure they had 1 or 2 injuries but so did we - and they were full-on in that match. It wasn't your avg wizard cup match.

I think we have depth on almost all the opposition this year. We can cover 7 or 8 injuries without having to go back to rookies/complete hacks.

Why not be positive.

FWIW, here is the ladder according to a popular sports betting agency - jeez Collingwood supporters are an optimistic lot (6th):

1. Port Adelaide
2. St Kilda
3. Brisbane
4. Geelong
5. West Coast
6. Collingwood
7. Melbourne
8. Sydney
9. Essendon*
10. Carlton (34:1)
11. Fremantle
12. Adelaide
13. Richmond
14. Kangaroos
15. Hawthorn
!6. Western Bulldogs

1. Brisbane - Lethal will have them eating raw meat this season
2. West Coast - Gardiner, Seaby, MacDougall and co will fix up the spine
3. Geelong - Losing Moloney could hurt team morale
4. St Kilda - Saints are the hunted, and Thommo won't cope with this on match day
5. Port Adelaide - everything Rohde touches turns to shit
6. Kangaroos - Wells for the brownlow, Thompson to straighten them up
7. Fremantle - too good not to make it this year
8. Sydney - should be talented enough to sneak in

9. Collingwood - have drafted for competitiveness and will be just that
10. Western Bulldogs - Eade will get us very close to September action
11. Carlton - will go close to the 8 also
12. Essendon* - their kids aren't much chop and Sheeds knows it - Hird/Lloyd go down and they will be bottom 3
13. Adelaide - kids are raw but still have some quality on their list
14. Melbourne - someone has to drop down, happens every year
15. Richmond - all froth and bubble, will lose many shoot-outs this year
16. Hawthorn - will bottom out but will be tougher proposition this year

I think the bottom sides will win as many as 6 games, and around 8th position there will be a huge log jam. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see someone unexpected drop drastically this year - maybe Geelong or Port. St Kilda have enough sheer talent to keep carrying Cornflakes. Have heard nothing from Brisbane all summer, and I suspect that Lethal will have them jumping out of their skins this season. I think Port players might be satisfied with their flag and they do have an aging list - don't discount the Rohde factor .

16. Hawthorn

I can really only see a continuation of the interstate domination, and believe that 1 or maybe 2 WCE forwards will come of age. With their midfield, season over for everyone else. I still think our midfield will be caught out at times but I think we'll be much better against the top teams, and may even steal a victory against a top team this year. Alas, I don't think we have the skill as yet. Blues and Doggies to just miss out, with the big drops to come from the Bombers. Sheedy has been doing what Parkin used to do, and will fail miserably. There is no life in the youngsters, and any sort of injury to Hird (which I expect) will keep them low.

ps I may be letting hatred guide me here.

What Molsey wrote....Freo and Sydney will win enough games at home to make it....probably out of us, Melb and Roos for last spot...Melbourne might just do it for Troy Broadbridge and sneak in....be our turn the following year and for the next couple while we build to a flag.
I reckon it will take Denis another three years after this one and then bingo..flag time...
