Thanks fevolaaaa, but it was more that I couldn't believe what I was reading, as opposed to not understanding it.

though not 100% sure, I think he is getting less game time than this time last year? - I suspect prender needs a lot of game time to start to show things on field given his athletics background

I'm not say that it was a good thing just that it was effective. Just feel Prenda has been off his game. Also why are people jumping on posts for being negative. I thought this site was called 'Talking Carlton' or is it 'Talking Carlton (only when times are rosy?)'.

Believe me I wish T-Bird was out there playing!

Some people cannot see the difference between constructive criticism and hanging it on a player unnecessarily.

Saying that the only effective thing Prenda has done is injuring T-bird is absolutely unnecessary.

Prenda has been playing off the bench in a relieving ruckman role. When French goes off the ground, De Luca take's the centre bounces and Prenda becomes the around the ground ruckman.

Last year Prenda played more of a ruck-rover, run with, midfield role.

Thats why he appears quieter this season. Nothing wrong with his game at all.

The best question might be....

Should we be using Prenda in a relieveing ruck role?

The site is called 'Talking Carlton' and while your post probably isn't as guilty of this as others, its not called 'Lets Bag the Players after a 20 point Loss'

I agree that his form hasn't been too flash this year though. Unfortunately both he and Sporn haven't picked up where they left off last year, and I think both are facing the axe this week... I've always been a wrap for both of them, so I'm pretty disappointed...

Deano for a start I'm joking - obviously the injury was an accident!

The topic was intended to discuss his form. I stand by what I said about him being quiet and not effective!

fair enough - but after some of the posts this week you can understand that some of our senses of humour are wearing thin.

Look I think Prenda will be in the team again this week but I hope he can start showing some form. Given that we have conceded i think 16, 17 and 20 goals (think that's right?) the last 3 games we may need to throw him in defence as an option.

We have got to set a temporary defence. T-Bird out for another 4 and Livo for 6! Maybe Prenda can go on the ball a bit more and allow Kouta to go down back.

Guess we'll have to disagree on that.

What kind of form did you think Prenda might display playing 5-10mins a quarter off the bench relieveing French and maybe a run here and there on ball or in Defence?

Kouta's days as a CHB are over and Prenda has failed as a Key Defender in the past. He lacks the footy smarts for that role. It looks like Norman and Morrell are it for now.

kouta did some good work in defence last week .. some goal saving marks and we goaled on the rebound twice .. he was the only solid pair of hands back there ..

but yeah cant see him keeping up with tredrea for 100mins .. but then again not many other teams defence can either

jeez i hope cornes doesnt play .. or better still, he plays and then goes down again !!

cant wait to see the in's and outs this week ..

.. go blues ..

Kouta has always done well floating down back as an extra man, the West Coast game in 96 (hard to believe its almost 9 years ago) will always be a great example of that.

He's really only played 1/2 season at CHB in 99 and was moderately successful playing there. I'm not sure why people think he's the answer at CHB, particularly when he's the #1 centre clearance player in the AFL.

I don't think Kouta is the answer either but we are up against a good attack this week as well as a good midfield so the ball will be fired in a bit. If Lade, Primus, Tredrea, Thurstans (maybe) all play forward we will be stretched for talls in defence.

It will be good to see how our guys go this week. I thought Norman had some good patches last week but will need to be focused the whole game against Port.

Given that, who would you play Norman on?

This is the man (Prendergast) that must take CHB over the next two weeks now. He must stand up and try his best. I know we have tried him there before, but hopefully he has learnt something playing further up the ground. Norman at fullback and keep everything crossed that it doesn't really get ugly.

I would play Norman on Treadrea, Teague on Thurstans, Morrell on the resting ruckman. I don't think they'll play two.

Prenda just doesn't have the smarts to play there.

I think has to step up and play on Tredrea and whilst not a backman is the only player apart from perhaps norman who has the pace and strength to play on Tredrea.Whether either has the footy smarts to play on Tredrea is another matter.Teague got murdered by tredrea last year for pace and strength and I think may be suited to a less mobile player if he needs to play on a tall.
Morell is not quick enough or strong enough to play on Tredrea either so just have to see how prenda goes.
