Not sure if this has been covered on here before, but should there be footy on Good Friday?

It's a religious holiday and being non-religious I have no problem with it.

For those of us who aren't religiously inclined ANZAC Day may actually mean more to us.

So why would supporters want to play a game on a day where thousands of their fellow fans would not attend? Wouldn't it be better to play on the Saturday? This poll has been done to death and the verdict is always split and unless 90%+ approve there would be no benefit of playing on that day.

Carlton traditionally has always had a lot of Jewish supporters. How does playing on Saturday sit with those who observe the Sabbath? Can't pick and choose who we decide to offend or not based on faith, IMO.

I think this poll should be posed in cartoon form

Saturday occurs every week. Good Friday is once a year.
Traditionally Carlton has plenty of Italian fans where most are Catholic.
Playing on Good Fiday IMO would slash the crowd by at least 30%.
Remember we played the scum Good Friday Eve in 2001 and we only got 60k when they expected 75k+. Reason being Catholics have a mass the night before.
There are no benefits of playing on that day.

No.

There's 364 other days they can play footy.

So, who should line up for the traditional Christmas Day clash then? :P

If it means we can get ourselves a guaranteed spot on the footy calendar, and start to build a traditional fixture then I'm a tentative supporter. Whether it's a Good Friday clash or not, IMO, we need to establish ourselves like this … if the Bumbers and the Filth have done it, where the hell are we (pardon the pun)?!

Besides imagine how many meat pies Honest Ron wouldn't sell at a GF game.

I'd go to any Good Friday football game, no matter who was playing. It's the most boring day of the year bar none, with basically nothing on TV. The ratings would be through the roof. The anti-Catholics like myself could either load up on the pies at the footy or steaks at home to make it even better

I don't have a problem with it but I'm not religious. Like fevolaaaa, I would attend any game that's played on Good Friday.
