Ain't TC a lively place at the moment? To fill the void I thought again of 1995, a time of my life which I resort to in times of pain, boredom or frustration. Was there a moment in our last Premiership year that really stuck with you? Or a player who came of age, or rocked the game? To help with your memories here's a link to a filler article on the carlton site from a month or so ago, which also doubled as a farewell to Camporeale... (if you can find it)... http://carltonfc.com.au/default.asp?pg= ... eid=242756 For mine, the best moment was a Peter Dean smother, run and pass which ended up with a Diesel goal in the 95 GF, perhaps his third for the game? I tried to cover it in this story in the Blueseum: http://www.blueseum.org/tiki-index.php? ... al%2C+1995 What is your favourite memory of back then? |

We sorely miss his desperation. We all love Teague for his efforts, which of course are great, but Dean just seemed to be on another level for desperation. Pretty sure Diesel outmarked Leigh Colbert for that pass as well. Dean smothered, picked up and little passed to Clape from memory, handball to Dean who ran through the 50. Diesel also outmarked the brilliant Stephen handley from a kick-in to score another goal that day. Two contested marks in the forward 30 for the day against guys 6 foot 3 or 4.... great stuff. |

The post match walk up Lygon St ![]() Or Patrick Smith's sole ( ![]() As for the game itself, that's a hard one. Perhaps Bradley's cool, calm, first goal of the match. Or Williams shaking off Stephen Handley (?) in the pocket in the 3rd, almost getting dacked, then goaling & letting Handley know all about it. |

Spalding's smother and goal in the 2nd quarter ... after that, Geelong were done. That match had everything - the brawl at half-time with Kouta backing up Ang was pure gold - although seeing Hoggy run to the other side of the ground in his tracksuit top to get involved still makes me laugh and also Ricey telling the whole Geelong team (including Stoneham in his suit and tie) he was going to get them after half-time. And on a personal note, being in 1st year uni and joining them all on the week long (or was it month long???) bender around the Carlton pubs. Special note must go to the drinking efforts of Fraser Brown and Andy McKay ... gee, my marks suffered badly that semester! ![]() |

Dean's game and Spalding's smother & goal were two highlights. Another was the realisation that we'd kicked the first 4 (or more) goals of each quarter, which meant that Geeling had to kick 100 points of catch-up footy. |

I was only 5 years old when we won. And had chosen my favourite player at the age of 3. Peter Dean. He was just magnificent. When he recieved his medal and then jumped of staged but then slipped? |

I think you have covered it in one - but you could mention Malcolm Blight who was doing Special Comments that day, after Peter Dean's umpteenth one percenter (can you actually do more than 100 one percenters??), Blight said something to the effect of: "Look at the want, the absolute want in the eyes of Peter Dean." (something like that anyway) it brings shivers to my spine when I watch and hear it and even when I just think about it. |

Robbos' commentary in the first quarter. "This is a grand final, there's no prizes for 2nd". Don't know why I love it but I do. |

I loved seeing Diesel chase down a Cat, with the Geelong player (forget who it was) being so freaked out, he literally ran in circles trying to get away, and was pinged for run-too-far, having run 20-30m yet going nowhere ![]() ![]() Other than that, the all-in at half-time with the only non-participant being Harry, who you can see in the Ch7 footage walking off the field in the background. When Roy & HG hassled him about this on "Club Buggery", he looked sheepish and said "well, I was a bit tired" |

The Duke … smothers, gathers his own crumbs and strolls purposefully into an open goal. For me that will always be the defining moment of the 1995 GF, and indeed the whole year. One percenters, hard work, bodies on the line for the team, all finished off with a nice bit of King Island cream with a cherry on top. (Not that Cherry tommi.) |
