A question maybe for some of the more chronologically gifted individuals on the site. 8)

I have a list of Reserves Premierships for the Blues.

1926, 1927, 1928, 1951, 1953

The book I got this from was from 1980. I seem to remember that we may have snagged a reserves premiership or two in the eighties. Would really appreciate any information regarding years, who we beat, scores, better players etc. :-D

Also, have a list of U19's premierships for the Blues

1948, 1949, 1951, 1963, 1978, 1979

Would also love as much info as possible about any of these and if we won any more after 1979?

Thanks. :-D :-D

Definitely 86 & 87 - got a feeling we may have won 90 - we were certainly in the finals - I remember Glascott playing.

1986 Carlton 22.14.146 v Footscray 10.12.72

1987 Carlton 18.17.125 v St Kilda 15.15.105

1990 Carlton 14.15.99 v Melbourne 11.15.81

Runners Up

1984 Melb 11.15.81 V Carl 6.9.45

1985 Haw 18.16.124 v Carl 16.12.108

We won 8 reserves flags - behind Geel 13, Melb 12 and Richmond 9 - equal with Essendon* on 8.

Last year of the reserves was 1999.

We also won 6 U/19 flags behind Rich 11,and Kang 7.

1991 was last year of the u/19s.

You will find that most prominent businessmen around town over the age of 40 "played a few games in the u/19s"

Thanks RH (and everyone)! Great info!

Would the Richard Pratt who won the Morrish Medal (U19's) in 1953 for Carlton be the same one?

Keep it coming everyone, anything you can find/remember is appreciated and will be used in the blueseum.

Would anyone have the line ups from those teams handy, from memory they were chock full of members of our 79,81 & 82 Premiership sides, like Jim Buckley, Wayne Harmes, even David Glasscott.

The 1982 Reserve B&F top 10 were....Spiros K ,Mario Bortolotto,Brendan Hartney,Paul Meldrum,Alan Montgomery,Barry Armstrong(a champ),Rohan Burke,Mick Lenaghan,Mark Buckley and Ross ditchburn......a fair list

The 1984 GF reserve team was...
Honeybun,Sheldon,Buckley,Howell,Maylin,Burke,Ralph,Hartney,Smith,Alvin,Peter Dean,Robertson,Mark Williams,Kenny,Rhode,Simpson,McKenzie,Graham,Gumley,Ricky Nixon,Ogier,Mottram,Gaghan,Enders and Micky Kennedy....

A few obscure ones but a very solid list to say the least..

For those wishing a trip down memory lane try these reserve players from the 1969 winning 1st semi final in the reserves..

Best...Noel Mewett,Peter Smith,Neil Chandler,Ronnie Auchettl,Dennis Munari,Bobbie Boxall and Dougie Baird..

Goals...Boxall 4,Auchettl3,Munari2,Hopkins,Armstrong and Mewett

Whilst looking through some old "records" came upon the 1979 Under19 Premiership squad....
David Guest
Alan Hamilton
Robert Hubbard
Peter Lazzaro
David Whillas
Spiros Kourkamelis
Darren Linkins
Stephen Gibson
Garry Williams
Robert Dean
David Glascott
Stephen Banbury
"Stan Gilday
Phillip Campbell
Mark Hegarty
Craig Clements
Greg Kazuro
Terry Dean
Ian Mckie
Robert Lawson
Mark Buckley

"Tisckett a taskett" Glascott, was obviously the star of a group that largely disappeared..

My personal favourites were Stan "the man" Gilday and in particular Mark Hegarty...Both should have made it..

Andrew Phillips played in 1990. That's all I've got.

Making me feel nostalgic 7dom. I remember Swanny McKay playing in the ressies GF that year so probably played in the 1st semi, so he plus, Hopkins Munari Armstrong Chandler gathered about 11 senior flags.

Did Phil Poussanidis kick about 8 in the 87 flag?

The impressive thing about our 79 U19s flag is that Sheldon, Buckley Harmes and maybe Marcou would have all been eleigible on age to play U19s.

Poursannides did kick about 8. I think he kicked a similar number in another final that year.

Sheldon, Buckley and Harmes were all probably just too old, but I'll stand corrected.

Sheldon debuted in 1977 - I think as a 17 year old, Buckley debuted in 1976 as a 16 year old, I think Harmes debuted in 1978. I remember Marcou playing in the reserves in 1978.

Sheldon was a runt when he first arrived, we used to bowl him over with ease at training. Marcou was just very fast, he was never flashy early. Took one step too many and ran into a Lou Chiodo bearhug tackle in a training match and nearly got the life squeezed out of him. The Pig was just about the same size all the time, always solid with thick legs.

I sat about 8 rows in front of the coaches box in 1987. I had to get there early so you could actually hear Col Kinnear's comments during the game until the crowd filled in.

If I'm to use the Col's comments as a guide to the playing list that day then there should be a Jesus H Christ on that team sheet.

Does Richard Foster hold the Reserve Games playing record for Carlton? He played in the reserves for what it seemed to be forever. He never played a senior game
