Post subject: | Membership Question |
Hey Everyone, Just wondering if people have gotten their new memberships and other stuff back yet? I got the renewal back in november and sent it back then with the boxes ticked for renewal and to buy the jersey signed by kouta option. Has anyone receieved any word about either of these things? I called the membership dept and got told that I have to wait til sometime in February to hear about my membership and they had no idea about the purchase of the jerseys. Went back and checked my credit card statements and thye took the money for the membership but no the jersey. Does anyone know about this gear or who I can call to check on it as the membership dept seems to have no idea. Cheers GCB |

being a first time member i was kinda thought the club would send out a simple letter within like the first week that you signed up just to confirm and say gday or whatever. but nothing!.....i guess the only reason for this is i worry that it might get lost in the mail or they wrote my address wrong or something and would like confirmation that they know im out there....meh....just have to wait and see |

Guys, you need to be tolerant with these things. I have been a member at different levels for a number of years and delays such as this are part and parcel of renewing/acquiring AFL club memberships. From silver club member to social club and even nowadays as an AFL Carlton Support member, the delays are fairly similar and nothing much happens until late Jan to late Feb. Even this year, I renewed my AFL membership pre-Christmas and had my card debited shortly after and still haven't heard a peep from the dark overlords! AFAIC, I don't see much need for it to occupy space in my wallet until the NAB Cup starts |

So when they don't arrive in time for the NAB Cup against Geelong should we be pissed then? |

AFAIC, I don't see much need for it to occupy space in my wallet until the NAB Cup starts I am tolerant, and know that this is the norm. Still doesn't make it right, corporation takes your money, uses it for its own purposes and takes there time finalising and sending out what you have paid for. Not the end of the world, but think about it: - clubs desperately want memberships - people buy memberships for xmas present - peson unable too give present on xmas day in general this needs too be fixed |

All I can say is I hope they have it to me before first game as I am gonna fly down from qld for it. I think most people wouldn't be too upset about the time it takes if they at least got a letter acknowledging that their renewal was recieved. im sure it would even save the club hundreds of people ringing up to check that their forms/money was recieved. Did anyone else order the replica jersey and if so did they take the money from your account yet? Membership dept seems to know nothing about that even though it was on the membership form. Their response was "I'm sure it has been taken care of if it was on the form but we dont know anything about when they are being sent out or when the money comes out of your account" So i guess its just a waiting game to see if they ever take the money and if they ever send the jersey. Fantastic! |

I sent a complaint letter addressed to Ian Collins about the membership dept, and I told them my thoughts. I was pissed because I asked when I was getting my calendar so I could use it in the New Year, and was told that I had to wait until it was sent out with membership. I offerred to pick it up and they said not. Funnily enough, I received a letter of apology last Friday with the calendar sent to me. I was satisfied that they replied. |

You bet! That's my deadline Maybe I have been conditioned to accept this mediocrity over many years of similar laziness from the membership departments. The things is it happens across all clubs and even the AFL itself with all its financial might and whatnot. Barnesy, you are right though, generally speaking the whole situation is deplorable and some improvements in these dept's could enhance the experience for the member and not leave so many feeling resentful and frustrated. What annoys me about memberships is that for those that commit their hard-earned to buy one, they aren't even guaranteed a seat at a GF if their team should get there. I would even be prepared to pay a reasonable premium in addition to my membership to guarantee this spot. I think it is totally unacceptable that come GF day there are members that miss out in a stadium that holds 100K, because the ticket allocation is always a (pathetic) percentage of the membership base for that club. If the greedy rats at AFL (and even at club level) actually gave a stuff about the member, they wouldn't flog off so many seats to sponsors and more annoyingly, as packages for people willing to pay exorbitant sums. Members missing out on GF's is a crime in my eyes. That's one reason why I switched to an AFL membership. Too many people I know can get to go year in, year out with this membership once you become a full member. For the 1993, 1995 and 1999 GF, I had to go through hell to get a ticket and only once did I acquire it as a member. Twice I had to deal with private ticketing companies to get a ticket and had to pay well above face value. |

Just a minor irritation of mine - well I'm railing against Americanisation of our language. Can we please use the term "pissed off", not "pissed". We all know what "pissed" means - and it's not upset or angry. |

Not sure about Carlton memberships (Gold, Blue and Jnior).....but as an AFL member, they were saying that if you didn't renew by Christmas, you would NOT have your card by the start of the NAB cup..... Christmas/Jan is a pig of a time to get these things done...I think we tend to relate the renewal date and received package date as months apart when they are a few workinbg days apart. Besides, if they are all preprpared as per the calenders, then you probably would've had a picture of Campo on your hat! |

![]() Thinking about it I didn't get a fixture either but looking back at the membership brochure it doesn't mention it. |

People buy their memberships knowing this at the start of the year and actually if you have a gold reseerved seat you get a guaranteed seat at the GF....not saying its right or wrong just stating fact |
