I had a look the other day at the people who have donated more than $1000 to the club under that heroes program. Amongst the players - i was surprised to see (considering the amount they earned from the club) the absence of the following names: 1) craig bradley 2) scott camporeale ...well not so surprised considering his character. 3) greg williams. 4) rod ashman 5) andrew mckay I wonder if there are any others that should have donated at least $1000 to the club considering the amount they earned. The REAL CARLTON HEROES - EX PLAYERS ANYWAY - WERE 1) Ian Collins 2) Mike Fitzpatrick 3) Vin Cattogio 4) David Glascott 5) Ken Hunter 6) trevor keogh 7) stephen kernahan ![]() 9) peter mcconville 10) david mckay 11) paul meldrum 12) ken sheldon 13) silvagni family 14) geoff southby 15) robert walls. the above 15 players to me are TRUE HEROES... willing to do what is required to help the club survive. The list at the top... mmm... still wondering why they couldn't donate $1000 at least? |

"... are you and me... the fans" All supporters who have stayed as financial members during the tough times are also Real Carlton Heroes . The supporters who still go and watch the team play each week even though the chances of winning are slim are also heroes. ![]() |

Seriously, though, how on earth could Craig Bradley for one not see himself free $1000 from the bank to give back to Carlton? I know he gave a lot to the club - but let's say in total he earned at least 1.5 to 2 million from the club over his long and successful career - what would $1000 mean to him? Surely it is a sign that he has the club's best interest at heart. I think JFK had the Carlton football club in mind when he said - ASK NOT WHAT THE CLUB CAN DO FOR YOU... ASK WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR THE CLUB - BRADLEY amongst others. |

I reckon if a shitkicker like myself can dig into his kick, then it should have been bloody compulsory for all those high flyers. To be brutally honest,it was bloody pathetic that they could only get about 800 to contribute to the hero fund. Our club was about to fold and was facing the biggest crisis in its history...............The bigtimers and high flyers bailed out when there should have been a stampede to tip in.Anyhow,at least we know who is fair dinkum these days. |

Spot on Mickstar. $1000 - interesting to see who paid it - a lot of the players from the 80's did... and yet they earnt a lot less than the Bradleys, the McKays, the Sextons, the Williams etc. I really think every player who played mid 90's onwards would have the means to contribute at least $1000... Craig Bradley... blows me away he can't get together $1000. |

Spot on - and its not too late - the club is still accepting $1,000 donations to become a "Hero" of the foundation - origonal Heroes are already admitted. Will be interesting to see if any more come forward with a grand. |

I agree. Look at Paul Meldrum - he donated $1000 and played in the 80's when the money wasn't really in the game to the extent of the 1990's. I would think that he would have earnt 1/50th of what Bradley did - but he still gave to the club. Meldrum is a CARLTON HERO in my book. Bradley...mmmm... waiting??? So too Christou, McKay and Sexton... there is no valid reason why they can't give $1000 to the club. |
