Just watched the news about the new Governor David de Kretser. The point was made that he is a strong Carlton supporter. Always good to have friends in high places. |

Governor of Victoria, not Governor General. Victoria does not rule Australia. Even though some of you may think otherwise. 
Unfortunately, the Governor's role is 95% cerimonial. What we really need is a businessman (or woman) in high places. Willing to invest large sums of moolah into the club. |

It's pretty much 100% ceremonial now, unlike the GG because of the Australia Act 88 (??) |

Also, they do have the power to refuse to sign any legislation they wish. They would then be kicked out of office, and another Governor would be appointed by the Government. At least that's the way I understand it. |

What is it with our a suddon passion for looking at easy handouts. 
Remember people most of these guys have earnt their money the hard way, by getting their hands dirty, being smart and good at what they do. A philosophy maybe we should try and emulate again. |
