He is good overhead, a good set shot at goal, and would provide excellent defensive pressure through fierce tackling and suicidal attacks at the contest in the same vein as Hammil used to. He should be built like a brick shithouse now so he could make a good foil for Fish and Fev. So while JK is out of action building himself up physically why not let the Wiggler loose in the forward line? Thoughts??? |

I know he played a few games in the forward line in 2002 and that hes a good trainer and all but If we have to play Wiggins forward we're struggling. It will eb because someone like Fletcher has had 5 Carlton forwards moved off him already and we're kicking up and unders to centre half forward again. I would much rather have Hartlett or Kennedy or betts or Whitnall or Fev or anyone else up forward than Wiggins. If he can't make it at half back then he isnt going to make-it. lets face it - Wiggins is the player on the list most like my name sake effort, good at bumping but still struggles to keep his opponent out of the game. Although i have to say he did well against Nathan Brown when the Tiggers thrashed us in 2005. |

Wiggins at Carlton = Tagger. I really see this as Wiggins best Option. His dedication and application on the track translates to someone who can follow instructions. I think he has the build and endurance to really give this a go. With some appropriate coaching he could become a real rebound type tagger. I have often wondered why Libba has not pulled Wiggo aside and had a few words to him about this. Franga was our tagger and now with him back at the Bullants, i really think this is about the time we see Wiggo come good ( once and for all ) Seriously who else do we have that could play an effective tagging role? Corey can but i prefer him off the half back flank or even on a wing. Bannister can , but i've been reading here that he could be a surprise packet. Carrazzo could but he gets too much of the ball to be used as a tagger. Wiggins to tag in 2006 thats my call. So when it does happen you'll know where you read it.... 
Why Not folks why couldn't he be this palyer for us. Remember Hogg and Athorn. No superstars but effective. |

Does Wiggins have the tank to run with some of the elite midfielders of the AFL? I'd say no. Banno is our tagger. Wiggins is a flanker at either end. |

Do you discount this train of thought as an option altogether. If we accept Banno as our tagger surely Wiggo could be part of the tagging rotation. Maybe

Go to do more than just nulify these days. Wiggo is a battler and I admire him for that but if he gets the flick from us he will not be playing AFL. |

i love the way wiggo goes about it. he is hard at it, does the 1%ers as well as anyone, but at the end of the day, i just don't know taht he is up to AFL standard. the art of tagging as changed, thanks largely to Brett Kirk and Cameron Ling. yes stop the opposition best mid, but be damaging yourself. wiggo doesn't have this capacity and quite frankly i crap myself every time he has hold of the ball. his bloody disposal is attrocious |

Watched the Port vs Carlton game on Foxtel yesterday and Wiggo took some nice marks under the pump and did ok but couldnt hit a target from 20 -40m away..no one doubts his courage or work rate but his skill level and decision making is what lets him down.. i think he plays his best footy on the ball...like Bannister he needs to lift his disposal skills and not panic...I wouldnt give up on Wiggo yet but he probably has this season to make it and you just wonder if he will get the opportunities with some of the younger blokes probably going to get preffered... |

Simple answer - no ... not good enough! We already have Fev, Lance, Setanta, Fisher, Waite and Longmuir ahead of him as marking options, even before we factor in people like Hartlett, Raso, Kennedy and the resting ruckmen. PS Seems Bannister will be tried in the back half permanently this year on the back of his superb Bullants finals series. I for one applaud this move as we don't have many options down there so it's worth a try. |
