Beating your PB by 42 seconds sounds like a bloody miracle. But is 12.02 still slow, or is that ok for a ruckman?

And why did you change Mack and Don?

Edit:
Time Trial Top 10
1. Callum Chambers - 10.28
2. Jordan Russell - 10.41 (PB by 10 secs)
3. Ryan Jackson - 10.43
4. Ian Prendergast 10.43
5. Justin Davies - 10.48
6. Brad Fisher - 10.52
7. Jordan Bannister - 10.53
8. Adam Bentick - 10.55 (PB by 15 secs)
9. Cory McGrath - 10.55
10. Andrew Carrazzo - 10.55 (PB by 15 secs)

these were from last weeks training article on the club site, so Bryan is just over a minute behind Carrazzo. Does anyone know how French went?

I thought Molsey deserves respect for bringing these insights to us.
As he says, he does stuff for the club and supporters that most dont and I appreciate his efforts..

(I'll save it for next time. :P )

I did not realise that this was about Chris Bryan.

He was one of my favourite players in the middle of the season but I am not sure how he will get a game with McLaren coming in and DeLuca being fit again. I think DeLuca and Bryan are playing for the one tall forward role and DeLuca is 5 centimetres taller.

The Big WOOOF, hope he has a good yr in the ruck, he has a bit more help now which is good, besides Banabay we have 4 young ruckman., which is good to see.

Ryan Jackson is making a fair start to his first season......every training report has been positive especially in regard to his skills and his time trial result was impressive.....cant wait to see him play....could be the bargain of the draft....

i know i only saw the one training session, but jackson wqs working hard but seemed to be struggling a little in the one on one stuff. Flint was had him well covered at times.

he looked annoyed but didn't seem to drop his head at all and just went at the next contest even harder, which is good to see

I'd say that Bryan is a better mark and kick though. I think they'll both get their chances this year, and hopefully one of them can stand up and really make the position their own.

As a permanent forward who chips in to help the rucks occasionally, Bryan could be ideal. His marking and kicking are sensational, and he loves a contest. I'd expect to see him do more of the bullocking work a la Earl Spalding.

Thanks for posting this BV.

Bryan also talked about how clear the coaches have been with the ruckmen as to how they will assess their games in 2006, with a clear understanding that there will be at least two ruckmen in every team. Bryan said that it will all be about clearances for the time in the ruck, and this is where their development focus has been. He said that they have been having multiple rucking sessions with the midfield grouping and coaches in private, to work up strategies and ensure the midfield know where each ruck will go with various taps.

We talked about how his stats dropped off after a while in 2005 when he was getting limited game time, but he said that that was no issue as long as when he is in the team he is doing certain things ie clearances.

Regards

Mack

Great insight Molsey, thanks for your efforts.
I read in another post that the ruckmen are doing theory based clearance training as well as practical work.
You indicated all coaches were in attendance.
Did Bryan indicate who conducts these sessions.

IMHO, someone like Mitchell would be ideal for strategic planning.
He was an absolute gun off the ruckmans hands.

Sorry BV, I didn't ask who led the sessions, just who turned up from the Coaches. The answer was 'all of them'.

The more I think of Bryan the harder I get. Scrub that for a sec - too many emails to Tyrant this afternoon. But... the more I think of Bryan the more I think he'd be great in bursts up forward. I remember how in the Sydney game he just ran over a guy attempting a shepherd - I'd love to see more of that in today's game of blocking. With an extra 4 kilos he could do some damage.

Adam Hartlett will be the next in the '2nd year Blue' series, which should go up some time this week. Here's an interesting quote from the article:

"I’ve got a bit to make up for – to the Club, to the fans. I’ve got a lot to prove. So I’m out there, throwing my weight around, using my voice, enjoying it. I’m trying to lift my intensity a bit at training, to the level expected of the AFL. I have to prove to Denis that I can match it with the men"

ps I will be away for most of the week - if someone sees it up on the site could you please post it in this thread? Ta, M.

fantastic reading about his enthusiasm.

Love his honesty when sharing the fact he was a little flat after hearing about the size of the new recruits - more importantly now switched on and motivated by taking control of his own destiny.

sounds like a big beefy type of fella.

bring on 2006. Great series Molsey (thanks)!

I read the link to the previous article and it said he was drafted at 86 kilos, and is now 96 kilos. In one of the Whitnall threads Cazzesman said that Red with 96-97 kilos but Hartlett is 6 centimetres taller.

96 kilos sounds about right? Livo is supposed to be 100kgs +.

I think Frenchy is 102 kilos, so that should probably be the upper band.

Pavlich is 100kgs and Tredrea listed at 97 kgs. Considering hartlett is 96kilos after only 1 year on the list (2 pre-seasons) I think he'll have the necessary size and strength to play the key positions.
