Mickey Martyn! On Fox. *wipes tear from eye* 2003...the season from hell. Only three wins. We got slashed...pity we couldn't pull it off for Mickey. He only got 4 touches anyway. I'll never forget when I heard we'd drafted Mickey. Was walking home from a friend's place. He rang me...I seriously thought he was taking the piss...until I got home and confirmed it myself. Season 2003 seems like eons ago. |

But do you think the only reason he was drafted was so he could get to the 300? I actually think it was. i'll watch the damn thing anyway.....I'll watch anything carlton when i'm suffering withdrawals...not just from footy now ...brave me gave up the Ciggies....bluck! |

I gave up the smokes in January last year! Looking good so far...Carlton 1.1 to Essendon* 1.1 I dunno about the conspiracy. I just don't know. |

Martyn was ok, I didn't have a problem with his drafting. It was good for a laugh in a pretty crummy season... Showed us all that Denis had a sense of humour ![]() |

Hell yeah, I can remember Croad streaming down the wing for the Bullants and thinking he was a dead set cert! Jarusa, was Martyn the best Pick 85 in history for games played? |

When Pagan came to Carlton and one of the first things he did was draft Martyn I took an instant shining to the great man. |

Jarusa, was Martyn the best Pick 85 in history for games played? I remember Croad doing the same thing and then booting it straight out on the full! ![]() |

Given that only Mickey and the rookies were taken after him, I'd say...no-one. ![]() |

Manton a fullback? He only ever was a flanker/pocket...occasional pinch hitter up forward. Same with Beaumont. Neither played fullback until Silvagni retired...Manton would've known as much about playing fullback as me when he was expected to take the number 1 opposition forward because there was no-one else. In that light, not surprising Martyn was recruited, though he was slow as an aging ox. Manton looked nimble when he replaced Martyn after his 300th game. When you think about it...we were damed either way...an over the hill fullback or a half back flanker?? Not much of a choice. |
