I'm with KP, but with the variables of the other teams, could be anywhere from a just-made-it 8th, to 14th |

The question is: Given where we have been, and where we are going where is it best that we finish?? ie - lets not pull one stellar season out of the bag and drop away marginally for the next couple. Lets win 8 - 12 games, remain ultra competitive, see key development in our players and as a TEAM, get a healthy draft pick next year, manage our list effectively, encourage (with room in our salary and healthier cash flow) one or two key midfielders too our club, and get that real stealiness about who we are back. Finishing number one is like saying - we want too win The development component without too bigger burden on the team is saying - we know the steps we have too take too get there Imagine if we finished number 1 - although great, how bigger burden would that be on the club, even top 4 would still be a burden. As much as I would love it, happy to move up next year, maybe play finals, but keep the apetite there for 2007. |

I can't expect Carlton to finish any higher than 14th and whilst Hawthorn's draft picks were good this year. There is a thing called second year blues which strikes young players and injuries. It's a big step up for Roughead, Boyle and Dawson to play in defense without Hay and Croad when he is needed to kick their goals.I don't expect Ellis, Dowler, Birchall, Bailey and Muston to have as big a impact as last year's selections for a variety of reasons. Essendon* now have Campo, Cole and Heffernan so that should fix them for the season! ![]() Collingwood over-rate everything they've got (Cloke, Rusling, Egan), were second last for more reasons than just injuries and are an ageing team with Rocca and Buckley coming off bad injuries. Fourteenth with some luck with injuries and Mclaren, Russell, Hartlett, Murphy, Blackwell stepping up to improve our depth of talent. |

It will take a year team three years settled together as a bunch of players working towards something to set a foundation for themselves. From that point its up and up. I believe it will be 2008 before were doing anything meaningful. Im ny opinion we will come last next year ... Bottom 2 or 3 the year after that.. and from that point there will be a sustained push towards the finals.. Hopefully we have a decade of being in the top 4 with a real window of opportunity to a flag(s) in that time. |

Are we likely to finish above any of the interstate teams based on THEIR form last year, figuring they will all improve? Probably not. So thats ...... 1.Swans 2. Eagles 3. Crows 4. Port 5. Freo 6. Lions I think the following Vic teams will be above us 7. Saints 8. Roos 9. Bulldogs 10. Cats With maybe 11. Melbourne and the 12. Tigers also just piping us. I suspect we are looking at 13th/16th depending on injuries to the Pies and the improvement in the Bomber and Hawk kids. ![]() Obviously we can't afford any major injuries to any of the following.... Kouta, Fev, Stevo, French and Whits or 16th will really be on the cards again. Regards Cazzesman |

Electric Blue wrote: thehalford wrote: This isn't very ULTIMATE pfft! Delayed reaction or what? ![]() I said 14th. I can't see us being as bad as this year, but likewise I can only see 2 teams below us (Collingwood and Hawthorn - and that's based on injuries). |

I'll be very surprised if we do anything apart from spoon again. Essendon* may challenge us, what with their gun young recruits Heffernan and Campo, morons. I think Sheedy has finally realised the only way to the top is the Salvation Army method. Too late for the priority pick Kev. Seriously, you reckon Kouta doesn't lead by example Synbad? Wait until Essendon* start falling over when goalposts hit them and staring at the ump like a stunned @#$%&! rabbit, pulling their shorts up to their neck and running like a catholic school girl. Collingwood will be down there but won't be as bad as us. Hawthorn are heading in the right direction. I can't see anyone being as bad as us though. As much as it hurts. |
