Depends.. if theyre very young or not...

If theyre too young to understand pain they should because by the time they are old enough to know .. we will be back!!!

But if theyre at an age where they understand pain and are sensitive.. take them along for a kite fly....and then introduce them back... they wont be as scarred.

Apologies to all of those who come to places like TalkingCarlton to get away from talk about babies....

My life has been swamped with it; I have to share the pain around...

Why is there even a choice?

Yes.

Yes!

OH GOD YES!

No offspring of mine will barrack for any club other than Carlton. Thick and thin. If they understand that we're supporters even in the lean times, when the good times return - sooner rather than later - they'll be that much better.

Both kids have to follow Carlton. No choice will be entered into. Sure I tell the wife thaty I will support whatever choice they make etc etc but in reality there is no way they will be allowed to follow any other team. I couldnt even imagine taking one of my sons to a Filth game/family day etc.

I use bribery, blackmail and anything else that I can think of. Kid #1 has suffered immensely at school for being one of the few non Aints/Scum/Filth kids in the school and many times has asked me why he has to follow Carlton and why he cant be like the cool kids at school. In response I have bought him memberships and taken him to Jnr Members days etc. Now he loves the Blues. We both look forward to the members days together etc (always take a day off work for it).

Youngest son is making his mind up now and the in-laws are trying to get him across to the Filth but I know that faced with either coming to the footy with me and his brother and coming to the jnr members days etc or sitting at home with Nanny and her Filth loving friends, then I know what choice he'd make. Now the older boy is starting to make fun of the younger one because he has a soft spot for the filth. When the little one comes to dob his brother in I just tell him not to come to me looking for sympathy for the filth!!!! And then I let him know that if he follows Carlton then this wouldnt be a problem etc!!!

I told them they could support any team they liked and never once interfered with their decision. And then I took them to any Carlton they wanted to go to.

As part of a small yet high-profile religion, we have a belief system that fosters the passing on of traditions from one generation to the next. My father gave me no choice other than to barrack for Carlton & so the tradition continues with my sons. The 6 year old is 100% on board & the 3 year old can recognise the big CFC magnet on the fridge. So when my grandchildren eventually arrive in the 2020's or 30's they will also be treated the same way. :-D :-D :-D

I would have thought that it was a given for our offspring to follow the Blues ?? :?

My son was told that he would have to change his surname if he barracked for anyone else !!

Is Livingston good looking or something? Maybe that explains why he is still around??

As usual, a tardy retort of no substance and a cheap taunt !!

Just for the record, would you want people to know that your offspring barracked for Collingwood ??

Not only would that be just about the most embarrassing thing that could ever happen, it would be one less member that the Blues could have.
