Just wanted to say this is brilliant. I left TBV and settled into CSC for, I thought, the long haul. It's a good place, one I shall regularly visit, but in just a short time browsing between the two already I can see my heart resettling like sand after a storm. And it is settling here. Talking Carlton , that says it all. Yakking away with friends about the game we love and the club we love. Why here? Not sure really, guess it's a lot to do with Camel/Mrs Caz and co being onboard. People I respect. It's also that we share a commonality that many at CSC do not, and probably never will. It's about intimacy, I feel more comfortable here, more like we're back at a pub sitting along the bar yakking away as if the past week was just a blip. I really didn't expect this, this sense of relief and of being back. It's crazy really 'cos this is just an internet site but as we know it's not, it's a community, it's my community and it's back. Others may laugh or shake their heads (take my wife...no please take me wife...) but there is an emotional attachment to this community. It has meaning and substance and history and all those other precious things we too easily lose in life. So, thank you to everyone involved in setting this up. Thank you to all who have searched and returned. It is nice to know that things can be overcome when a community steels itself and sets about remeding the situation. Home is where the heart is and while I'll post on Barone's site or on CSC this, this marvellous collective, is where my heart is. |

I second that, and the sentiments of what are probably hundreds of others. I know I felt somewhat lost while TBV was off-air, not being able to chat about footy, Carlton and life, like old mates. Maybe not over a beer, but the same in a certain way. I feel relieved that not only has this community been formed from the ashes of TBV, but all the usual suspects are about. |

Thought I was mad, but now i don't think so at all. oh and Scotty, don't be embarrassed...a good moderator must keep their finger on the pulse! |

And now we all have to work our way up through the playing list over again...I was about to crack the 1100 (OK, nowhere near camel's 10K, but I was happy with my lot)... |

totally agree danny. i really enjoyed having a good old yack in the pub the other day before the bombers game. it's so nice and kinda weird to be able to talking in person to people who feel as pasionatley and know the club as well or better than i do, especially in a pub before heading to a game together. something i never get to experince up here in canberra. i stumbeled across this new talkingcarlton site (unlike the temporary one) from the CBN (thanks strangeblue), and while i think its great that CBN is also running (and has twice as many members at present) i think i will settle in here like i did at TBV. this feels like home. |

The mesage on TBV only popped up today on my machine...and believe me I kept checking and refreshing all weekend! Oddly enough If I go back to TBV it occassionally goes to the "Board not operating" message so it will take a while to get all back on board (or at least around the traps!) Still Camel and all involved well done! You've stopped a lot of carnage. One weekend without a forum for Carlton and look at the reaction ![]() |

Hello I was a relative newcomer to the old TBV site and got the shock of my life to see today that it was shutdown. I live in Canberra, so I have always felt a bit isolated when it comes to being a Mad Carlton Supporter. Some cynics would say you don't follow AFL unless you live in the Mecca of Melbourne. Clearly I would disagree with that statement. The honest fact is that I have followed the blues since I was young enough to watch Televison (ie pretty young!!). I am now a 'veteran' of 33 years in age and have seen the ups and downs of the famous Dark blues, as no doubt most have you. I could go on and reiterate the things we all know about this great club, but for me personally the one thing that stands out in the 'new' Carlton approach under Dennis Pagan is this teams workman like, never say die attitude. A case in point is the nerve racking last quarter against the Dees on the weekend. It was edge of the seat stuff, but the kids stuck to their guns and didn't capitulate as perhaps the Carlton of old may have, and we came away with a hard fought victory. AFL coverage in Canberra is ordinary to say the least (which again points back to the feeling of isolation I mentioned before), so its a blessing to see internet forums such as this being available to keep me in the loop. Of course the added bonus is that I can add my two cents worth and create discussion (or at least I hope too!!) about the blues and AFL in general. So I say a sincere thankyou to all those people involved with setting up this site and I look forward to being a part of the 'community' of people that make up TalkingCarlton. GO BLUES! ![]() |

With over 100 members, nearly all of them today, it's a little late to "keep the lid on it", to use the expression. |
