Our patience in playing young players for the last few years is finally paying off

You should have heard Robert Shaw singing the praises of Carrazzo tonight on SEN another good news story from the rookie draft as is the unflappable mr thorton

Moreover who isnt excited about the class of 2000 sporn livo bannister and wiggins.
Davies from the 2001 draft played one of his best games for carlton on saturday night and our other excitement machine from 2001 waite didnt even play.
From 2002 simpson is just starting to come on and fisher and norman who both didnt play on saturday night are both going to be good players
2003 as we know could just about be the best of them in Andrew Walker.Adrian De luca was also picked up in that draft

The improvement in these guys will be the barometer of carltons success this year and will be one of the main reasons for our side advancing up the ladder.
The beauty of all these guys except for bannister is that they are home grown and finally after all these years our club has recognised that these days you organically grow your next group of stars rather than trade for them
I know that Stevens is an exception but lets face it he fell off the back of a truck

Couldn't agree more Frank. It was also highlighted in one of the papers that ShaneO would be getting as much satisfaction from the win as Denis having been responsible for drafting most of the players of which you speak.

It is so wonderful to see the nucleus of a young side coming together. It reminds me of the early 90's when Parkin came back and instituted his three year plan to turn the Club around after the dark seasons of 1990/91.

Post note: Apologies Frankie, I just read your sleeping giant thread and it appears that great minds think alike!

Where is my ten foot pole... Clem...thought I would let the ShaneO appreciation society have there 15 minutes of glory...its been a long time between drinks for them.
I watched Shane's smiling dial as he mixed with the players and enjoyed the win...it must have been a change for him after all those years of dodging supporters questions at GM's , retreating to the bunker after the media came after him after a string of poor recruiting years and then losing his job as recruiting officer when the Pagan era began.
Going to be a very good test for the class of 2000 in weeks to come, Livo/Wiggins/Sporn are always going to be talking point players in the forums and a lot of the fickle supporters who are praising them now will be sticking the knife in and calling for their head if we lose a couple of games.

I prefer to take a more conservative line with them and not get to carried away...lets wait and see how they go this year before calling them all over the line as winners....

Scotty..Rnd 1 should be interesting...I guess you will be letting me know how Daniel Harris and Trent Sporn went...
