I read with great excitement this morning that the Blues are now 6th favourite to win the flag at $14.

God I'm loving this positive press.

As thegezman says, the flag odds are now too short. I remember in 1995 that our odds were $14 in the preseason. And that was for a side that had made a grand final 2 years before, had finished high up the ladder the year before (before going out in straight sets) with experienced stars such as Williams, Bradley, Sticks, SOS, Earl, Harry, Peter Dean and others.

History shows us that sides tend to prevail after gaining some experience in the finals, just as Port has done. WC has served its apprenticeship already.

But there are always the exceptions, and therefore we can dream. Adelaide in 1997, and Essendon* (and Carlton) in 1993 have shown you can get into a grand final with an inexperienced team.
