Given the development of Jarrod last year and a fully fit fev, fisher and Archie up forward where will Lance line up in 2006?

Will he play in the forward pocket beside Fev forming a two pronged full forward attack? Fev could lead up the field and Lance could play deep in attack where his ability to read the play and flight of the ball could turn him into a very hard opponent to stop.

Will he and Jarrod play as dual Centre half forwards with one leading up the ground and the other going across field providing dual targets for our rebounding players?

If he plays up forward does this mean that we will play a rotating forward line with Archie, Fish, Jarrod and Whits interchanging through full forward, centre half forward, half forward pocket and forward pocket?

For that matter would Archie interchange with Barnaby off the bench or start on the field? Perhaps Archie would make way for McLaren?

Will Whits again line up at centre half back? Given the recruitment of Jason Saddington I think this is unlikely but if he did would there then be a position for Livo down back? If Lance played CHB and Saddington played against the gorillas and t-bird took the other tall forward then where does that leave Teague and Livo? For that matter would Teague and Livo be fighting for the third tall defensive position? Is there no longer a space down back for Lance?

I would suggest that Lance could start on the interchange however historically it has seemed that he has struggled when not playing the full game. He seems to work himself more into the game as it progresses. Perhaps that is because as the other players slow down a bit then his ability to read the ball and play does not deteriorate and he comes to the fore.

Given he is fully fit would Lance be an automatic choice in the team?

Good question. I think he'll start forward and play both ends depending on need. A lot depends on Saddo and if he can do anything, and on Setanta, will he play games, and if so where?

I think something like this

Saddo/Teague Livo/Saddo Carrots/Mcgrath
Russell/Wiggo T-Bird/Setanta/Lance(2 possies between them)

Its still not a great backline is it. Hartlett may come on but like Setanta I expect no more than a few games. Maybe we'll get a kid for CHB you'll just slot straight in and did i tell you I am going to win tattlotto this week?

I think the preference is to play him forward and send him back as needed. If we can get Fev, Lance and Waite all working together, they would a lot of teams plently of grief.

Good post Amazon.
Hopefully forward next to Fisher, Waite, and Fevola. A switched on Whitnall is our forward general and thus takes pressure off everyone else and makes us instantly a better team.

Lance will play down back . His days as a forward are over.

Disagree.

If Lance plays forward the opposition expose his limited mobility by playing an attacking mobile defender on him who rebounds with ease.
Lance should play loose as an extra defender. At least a 7 man defense.
Let Waite, Fish, Hartlett and Carlos play as MOBILE tall forwards rotating off the bench through the forward line.

Easy question. Played one good quarter up forward this year and played his best footy down back.

Lance didnt really play CHB..more of your Jason Cloke kick behind the play role. I doubt if he would have the mobility to play on some of the better CHF's. I would think he would start forward but probably get rotated down back...we seem to have plenty of talls but none of them play a specialsit position apart from Fev.
Its all bits and pieces stuff...Saddington will be handy but doesnt actually have a regular position, ditto for Jarrod Waite, ditto for Deluca, we have Bryan kicking in cos no one can kick the ball any distance, Livo cant be a sure thing to get a game and Thornton gets all the hard defensive jobs regardless of position. I would like to see us settle some players at least and maybe rotate just a few...

re: Setanta..I would play him forward...done his best work there in the twos and his raw approach reminds me of Earl Spalding. Sending him down back would be a tad ambitious and he would get lost....

re: Adam Hartlett..seems to have the skills....but looks to me like he needs another good season with the bullants with maybe the odd game in the second half of the season..with his kicking skills I wouldnt mind him being the bullants FB and training him to play that spot in the ones....

Our new ruck coach invented that loose man in defence position maybe Lance could get a few pointers. He used to average about 12 marks a game drifting accross halfback with no opponent. Everyone thought he was brilliant.

Synbad, I thought Lance preferred KFC or Hungry Jack's over Maccas

Well he won't be cutting in front of Synbad at the all you can eat buffet again.

He has learnt that lesson!

3 years is a long time Synbad. What’s a couple of chicken drumsticks between friends? Time to forgive and forget? :P

Synbad,

Don't you think that Saddington will play CHB? I thought we traded for him to fill the big defender hole in our team.

I think it depends if Fev, Waite, Fisher can do enough as tall forwards then maybe we can play Lance at CHB as he is the only opption we have there at the moment. I dont think Saddington will play CHB but maybe more of a half back flankers role. I also think Byran can fill a role forward at times and hopefully Hartlett and Carlos can have a go in the foward line at times throughout the year.

To those funny people with the wise cracks about Lance.... hope you guys are built like an adonis... as it would be hilairious of fat people to call someone that isn't fat.... fat

Maybe it's time to grow up fella's :P
