Ok…what to do with Kouta next year… No doubt about it, when playing on the ball this year Kouta got the pill a fair bit, but what did he do with it??…what was the defensive side of his game like??...would you agree his reflexes have (naturally) slowed up?? Kouta won’t be starting in the engine room in my best 22 next year. It’s time for the younger brigade to step up to the plate. For mine, I’d like to see Kouta rotating of the bench through the forward line and the occasional short stint in the engine room next year? Your thoughts on Kouta’s 2006 role…. |

I'd love to see Kouta rotated throuygh the forward line, spending a lot more time there, and yes, time on the bench, but I doubt it. |

Playing out of the square. Time for AB to step up to the plate and put in more than 5 good games for the season. |

I'd like to see him put his hand up. Literally. As in, I'm captain of the Carlton Football Club, and I'm going to try to mark this ball. And then I might actually have a shot at goal. Hard-ball gets are well and good, but we need Kouta to fly. |

Agree PJ and EB, Don't think there's much value on the bench, but lurking around the forward line is definitely a good option. TAking round the ground ball ups or "getting the ball" at these is enough to see him on thae park for most of the game and being very effective |

agree budzy that the old reflexes have slowed and the defensive game is slightly suspect, but I just wonder where the clearances are going to come from if he spends large periods out of the middle I just think that very high (too high?)expectations are being placed on AB to step into Kouta's shoes in this role |

Not just AB but Carrots and Simmo, maybe Wiggo, Blackers and maybe who we use 1 or 4 on, a rotation of blokes to get the ball out - Kouta on the whole time just means one less rotating young kid learning the caper - at this point in our development, I'd rather use the kids with occassional stints by Kouta. |

In a normal team he'd either go forward or back, which he would have done last year anyway, to pro-long his career. But we are so utterly crap that I reckon he should stay in the middle for aslong as his clearances are helping us. He's not really quick enough to get out on a decent lead anymore anyway, and his marking has gone down hill dramatically, since his knee. Why was he played for sooo long last year, why no rests? I always wondered. |

Time to let the youngens show what they can do in the guts. Kouta to play forward pocket all year if I was coach, still has great hands and could snag you 40 a year from down there. |

10mins forward flank 10mins on the ball Changing my opinion here, I just remembered Kouta played every second of every game this season so the guy can cope with field time. I think that Kouta could form an integral part of our forward line by releasing Brad Fisher. We all know and love the big pack marks Fish takes, but i'm not sure how easy it will be for him to continue this if he's getting a proper tall defender placed on him. If we have a forward line with Fev, Fatty, Kouta, Waite and Fish in it, few sides will put anyone decent on Fish allowing him to provide options up the ground and still swing forward for those big pack marks |

I'd start him on the ball, to get our clearances up and running, and give us a shot at working to make a lead, rather than chasing all day after a slow start. Give him 10 on the ball, and then give him licence to do as is needed out on the field. |

For a start lets hope it is his final year. This is not meant to be a sarcastic statement. He was inconsistent and he has slowed .He still played some great games and has done enough to earn the tag of a carlton great, but we must look to the future.Play him up forward with short stints on the ball.We dont want him up forward all the time .we would be too top heavy. |

25% on ball 75% forward I think Fev Kouta Whitnall Waite Fisher is top heavy though so maybe Waite moves out to the wing or we try him at CHB |

Yes some might call me mad for that but he's quick, atheletic and actually pretty good on the ground for a big man. He moves like a cat and would be really hard to match up on. |

I agree....Kouta and Waite should rotate between half forward/on ball next year, with Waite spending more time onball also. |

He is the reigning best and fairest our most consistent player over the past 2-3 years. He will spend most of his time in the midfield with stints in the forward line. if he wasn't in the midfield this year there would have been a few blow outs. this team can not do without kouta.. yet.. |
