"The de-listing last week of Carlton forward Digby Morrell certainly stirred up some interest for WAFL clubs.

The former West Perth forward was originally taken by the Kangaroos before crossing to the Blues, but will now wait to see if he has a new home in the AFL via the draft.

"The news spread quickly around the local ranks and at least four WAFL clubs are believed to have been interested in attracting the key forward.

Morrell is tied to the Falcons and would require a clearance if he decided to play for anyone other than the red and blue jumper.

However, it is believed Morrell is happy in Melbourne and may not return even if he fails to be re-drafted back in to the AFL system.

Key position players are hard to come at the best of times for WAFL clubs, hence the buzz created when they learned of the Morrell de-listing."

Go a step further. How would've the West Coast Eagles gone in the grand final even with one half decent forward.? I'm sure he is very capable of filling a position there. He has to be better than Lynch. I'd rated Morell and was disappointed to see him go.

I'd be staggered if the Eagles picked him up!

If he doesn't get picked up by anyone then it will prove how bad our list has been.

Clubs usually wait until after the trade period before they announce their delistings after trying to trade them first, so I imagine there was no interest in him from other clubs.

Could be a good pick up late in the draft for the weagles. with good delivery to the forward line he could kick 30-40 goals for them.
