And even on the evidence of just one intra-squad match it appears the Australians will have no trouble finding a goalkeeper or coming up with a potent attack.

Both Essendon*'s Dustin Fletcher and Carlton's Jarrad Waite were magnificent in goal with the pair pulling off some incredible saves, which even had Australia's assistant coach and former Gaelic star Brian Stynes shaking his head in amazement.

Fletcher's best save came when he took a clean saving mark as former Irish Gaelic star Sean O'Sullivan ran into an open goal from just metres out while Waite pulled off an even better one when he dived full length to push a six point goal attempt from Andrew Lovett onto the crossbar and back into play.

Interesting indeed.

What I want to know though is why can't we just stick Zelko Kalac in goal?

Do you remember the Victorian team in the mid-80's when Sheedy was coach?

Up to 9 Essendon* players, Shane Heard playing...

I can't believe Fletcher isn't Captain.

Seems as though Waite wasn't picked at all!! :? :?  ...That's disappointing as I was really looking forward to seeing him play...How hacks like Dale Morris and Kepler Bradley get games above Waite are beyond me (just realised that how they play in the AFL has nothing to do with this game i.e Newman and Morris playing very well)...oh well, at least he won't get injured.. :-D :-D

Kepler Bradley has got to be the most uncoordinated hack in history.

How Waite was dropped but he was kept I have no idea.

LOL, yer bad, Kepler cant even kick an AFL ball, and hes picked to kick the round one. Although Waite isnt the most reliable kick, but he has improved alot in 2005, especially kicking at goal.

Must have been the Martian's picking the side. Could have been the Seagull's...

I can understand you being supportive of our 'own' Jarrad Waite and his obvious talent. But I'm not sure how that equates to Kepler Bradley being hopeless. I'd love to have Bradley at Carlton. He's big and super agile. And he's skills are good enough for a key position defender or ruckman.

What the bloody hell is he trying to prove ? Gerard Healy walked onto the ground at half time and literally flung Jarrad off the ground. Its these ridiculous shows of petulance that worry me.
