After almost 30 years I have to come clean and confess to a heinous crime committed against our beloved Lily of Laguna.

It all began when I had to relocate to Alice Springs after the devastation of Cyclone Tracy. I ended up playing footy for a side that had never won more than 3 games in a year. We were hopeless and so a few of us conceived a plan to improve the club.

The plan included the recruitment of Bill Bennett, a Carlton 1968 premiership player, to coach the side.
The effect was immediate and the club went on to win all games except two in Bills first year as coach. Unfortunately one of the two losses was the grand final. The next year however the side, West Alice Springs, won its first premiership.

Now comes the details of the crime. Along with Bill Bennett, NTBlue has to take responsibility for besmirching Lily. The problem came about when we won our first game and the coach realised to his dismay that the team did not have a club song. Well we had never really needed one before! The two Blues supporters immediately came up with a version of “Lily of Lagunaâ€

sorry hell aint good enough for you!

Eternity isn't long enough for you!

all your mistakes swirling forever before your eyes is not painful enough for you!

I think you should cut off both your balls and mail them to the club.

Its not much but its a start!

here's a great club song which incorporates the words red and black beautifully - there's even a link to listen to how it sounds!

the only way to redeem yourself fully is to change the club song to something like this - nothing in red and black goes well with "da, da da, da da!!!"

Nothing to be ashamed of - the Lily is the premiership anthem, if you have to wear horrible colours all the more reason to have a proper tune.
