I understand that the club has approached David Parkin to make a return to Carlton playing a role within the club in player welfare or some title like that. Parko has asked for time to think about this but Dennis has given him his approval and would like to have his influence down at the club. I know some of the boys are happy with this especially Kouta who David has a close relationship with and holds kouta in the highest regard. |

Yes please! For those of you who reckon Parkin left our list in tatters, now is his chance to make amends...If some of you also reckon Denis isn't Carlton, then Parko is!... Great figure to have around the club...Wouldn't want to be near both Parko and Denis when they're mad!... Come on down Parko... |

Not so sure this is a good idea. I love what Parko did for the club in coaching Premierships but lets face it he is the face of the old regime. No need to go back to those days. Cant see why Denis would want him there either having got rid of some of the bad influences in the last few years. |

I'd really want to know his specific role before commenting on this one. |

Too late to save Norman, which was what we really could have used him for. I think its a great move. Will still be good for players like Houla, Prenda maybe. A different voice and a caring ear for some of the more sensitive players (babies). Although I thought Pagan was good with young players given his success at U19 level. |

If they get rid of Pagan and make him senior coach I'm all for it otherwise I don't see the point. It would be a clash waiting to happen. |

Well... he might have been right.. Either way, I'd be happy to see Parko down at the club again. If it's true. Which it might not be. ![]() |

Geez, how can some people say that Parko is part of the old regime and bad influences. He landed 4 premierships for us. At least Parko and the old regime were part of a winning culture at Carlton. Where is that winning culture now I ask? |

if parko comes back it could be a admin role or something like that. he would be good with sponsors, the young guys he could even head up the care for kids program that was scrapped. i doubt it would be a football department position. A mentor perhaps |

At least Parko and the old regime were part of a winning culture at Carlton. Where is that winning culture now I ask? geez lc ... it was actually 3 flags at carlton!! (81, 82, 95) ... his other flag was at hawthorn in 78. parko was part of a winning culture at carlton, then played his part in destroying it by greedily trying to pinch a last flag before retiring. all that topping up rubbish has left its mark. one poster suggested parko could've helped karl .... pah-leese .... some of you should note that parkin, by his own admission, has NO time or patience in dealing with young, troubled footballers .... then of course, there's the other side of the transaction ... karl ![]() |

Others have also suggested a mentoring role. |

Nope, Carlton needs fresh blood across the board. Gotta be someone appropriately attuned to the youth / youngsters of today. |

Should employ Jim Stynes as both a ruckman coach and a mentor. |

Terrific idea !!! And while we are at it, let us also bring back Elliot, Wayne Brittan, and also get Tim Lane an admin role. Parkin lost touch with times post 95, and was largely responsible for the self empowerment cancer. We couldn't be that foolish to bring him back. |

Thinking about this over night, I think the board want some eyes and ears in the inner sanctum. Someone to feed them running opinion on the players, the coaches, the admin and the whole football department structure. Their versiopn of what pagan did with Micky Martyn in the playing group. With Parkin around, everyone would be mindful of his perception of what they do day in day out. |
