Trade week for me marks the end of the season.

We can complain, moan and groan about players staying, players not traded and players leaving. But in reality, its done, its dusted.

The big advantage of last week was that we have swept away the last of the Elliot era contracts and have sorted out who wants to play for us and who doesn't. That has to be a positive.

Me, I am not even looking back at the past year, I am looking forward.

I am looking forward to the draft and the kids. The kids who are the future of the club. There is genuine hope for us in this draft.

Next year it will be a very different side taking to the field, it will be a fresh start and one I am looking forward to.

Lets not look back, its pointless now, its history. Lets look forward. it is much more interesting.

Mark, whilst I understand the sentiments, there is one Elliott-era contract remaining and it's been the biggest noose around our neck for the past 5 years.

I won't be resting until that's over.

BlueMark, are you saying Pagan will be playing the kids on mass? He's never done it before, but looking at our list, if he doesn't do it in 2006. he'll have to do it in 2007. Hopefully he will go with the kids and let form dictate selection.

Fair enough, but you can get anrgy and stay angry or you can say. 'Stuff it, its done, lets get on with it'.

And thats what I reckon we should be doing.

Have no idea who Pagan will select, but I reckon he would be pretty excited about having a bunch of new fresh players around the place. I know I would be.

It is somewaht less than a $1 mill and half goes on the veterns list, the positive is that the club has freed up approx 700 000 in the salary cap with Lances reduced contract and Campo leaving

This type of slight is alien in the more cultured part of the world - Walsh. Its up there with mad dogs, Englishmen and the midday sun!

Does anyone close to the club have anything near confidence about a purported level of income for Kouta in 2006? I've heard everything from $500000 to 'bnearly' $1 mill. All along I thought his renegotation a couple of years ago was supposed to spread his total payments from 2001-2005 out over an extra year. What's the goss?

Seems it's positive spin time again. All is rosy once more. Time to whip up the membership drive.

Budzy we can sit around and gnash our teeth, moan and groan etc or we can get on with it.

What is done is done, not a lot we can do about now except make sure it does not happen again. Me, I am looking forward to who we draft and what sort of team we put on the field next season. And that to me is far more important than to wheter or not Campo is a traitor or how much Kouta may or may not be on.

Well it sure as hell aint no one way leafy street to me Bluemark.

I see it as a 2 way highway, one direction headed for glory, the other direction headed to hell.
I see the club caught in a traffic jam on the way to hell looking to do a U-turn to get on the road to glory but too bloody scared to force its way around.
I don’t trust the person driving Carlton (Collo). He’s shifty and always has been shifty to me. There needs to be a driver change imo.
I refuse ignore the feelings I have and pretend everything’s good because it isn’t.
Yes there’s a few new fresh young faces amongst the playing group and that’s great. I’ll be cheering them along with you and everyone else but there’s problems at the club & I won’t ignore them.

Dammit, BM, I read the thread name, and all I could think of is Kang in his Presidential debate speech:

kouta is on between $900k and $1 mill making him the highest paid player in the comp.

and even though only half counts towards TPP, the Club still has to raise the money to pay him. And by my count, CFC needs to earn about $2 mill in revenue (ie before costs) to pay for Kouta's $1 mill in 2006.

Mark i agree with you. Season 2005 is over! bring on the 2006 season. Stuff the re-buildng of the side, we need to put out the best 22 and try to win all our games. Half way through the season if we havent improved then we tank!
Lance has been re-signed we must get on with it. We will have our #1, #4 and #1 PSD picks in the side, no more excuses!. WE MUST SHOW IMPROVEMENT.
