Thin ice, I'd say, for Collo and Pagan

some big calls being made RE the "senior playing group", and some even bigger ones maybe to come (trading Fev).

I wouldn't second guess their decisions (much!), but gee... we'd want to see some big improvements from this season, or else it might be curtains for Collo and Pagan. I half agree with fevolaaaaa that they've done little that warrants enthusiasm, and this trade week has raised more eyebrows...

I'm not saying either/both are bad performers... but gee.... we'd want to see some kind of blueprint next year or, well, I think they've both got to go for the good of the club.

Lappin leaves for nothing
Lance gets 2 years on great money
Fev possibly traded for not much from Richmond

all :garthp: s

Thank god for Campo's greed, or else they'd really be staring at it.

Collo and Denis... on notice I say! lift your game 2006! you can complain all you like about A-grade players, but when @#$%&! all happens in trade week, and some HIGHLY DUBIOUS contracts are signed... well gee.... someone has to put their hand up, and there's only so much we can still stick to big Jack and Parko.

DEFINING YEAR!!

I don't hate Lance Whitnall, I just expect those in management to start validating their decisions.

tyrant they need to be as accountable as the playing group, but fair go......what cards were they being offered, do you know? what money was lance signed for, do you know? what will happen with Fev...? we will have to find out.

measure collo and pagan next year on quality of on field performnace , but it is hard to judge now when you don't know all the facts.

There are still two full days of trading left. Who's to say we won't pull off some mega deal between now and then?

We all seem to be jumping at shadows at the moment.

problem is hope deano, I think too many hoped some miraculous deal would occur (plus exorcise Lance/Campo). Perhaps peole could only deal with the spoon by placing all their eggs in the trade basket!

Relax, Picks 1&4&20 mean we will improve our list

Plus rookie elevations (either 2 or 3) plus steady improvement from the kids.

We will get better next year but this is not an overnight redemption .

All I've said is they're making decisions they want to make, so we better start seeing some reward out of them.

I'm not suggesting we're going to be shit next year, and that Collo and Pagan should be sacked..... all I'm saying is they're "disillusionining" some fans so they'd better put some runs on the board next year, or we'd have to start really questioning if they're right for us.

All I'm saying is go ahead and make the decisions you want, Collo and Denis. Offer Whitnall a squillion dollars a year and trade Fevola for Royce Vardy..... it doesn't matter to me.... except on the park where its reasonable to expect our men in charge to start earning their keep and "validating their decisions".

MAKE OR BREAK YEAR!!!!

Yes we must see some improvement next year, some idea of where we are going. Another year like this may force new change. Sadly, no longer does that idea startle me.

Don't get me excited MJ. I have been the same and been disappointed over the last couple, so if you don't mind, I will play it with a straight bat this year.

ok then tyrant i understand you now

To elaborate on what success will mean to me next year -and it won't be another 10 wins or even 5.

it will much more about the leadership shown, the desire for the ball and committment to each other and the jumper.

AND MOST OF ALL success will be about seeing something we haven't been famous for since the 60's and 70's i.e young talent shine through in waves..........i want carlton to be again famous for the next generation of champions (wins or no wins)

We have the draw to get 12 wins. I'm expecting a season like 2004 in 2006. Except it will be on the back of the kids in Simmo, Murphy, Hartlett, Russel, Jess Smith, Fisher, Waite, Walker and Bentick. If Fev stays then 80 goals will be delivered.

I have an old school friend who is right in the thick of things high up at the AFL. Recently he told me that the AFL believed that the current Carlton board was the right board to remove Jack, but is not the right board to take Carlton forward.

There's some credibility in the view that the current administration is not the one to take us forward, but I think they have made good decisions so far in getting us out of the financial blackhole they found us in.

To me, there are two problems for our club. Firstly, we've lost the respect of other clubs. The other aspect is that we seem to be constantly negotiating from a position of weakness. If it wasn't for the previous decade of mismanagement, we would be playing our home games at the MCG and be on a par with Essendon* and Collingwood in terms of our clout with the AFL and sponsors.

Can't help but think that Mike Fitzpatrick joining the AFL Commission saw the president we need disappear, with no obvious replacement on the horizon.

That's my issue...we've perhaps rightfully been totally concerned with the finances, but the on-field has gone to shit. It's been 3 years now since Collo and Pagan have been in charge, and we've improved but not anywhere near as much as we could've. This Whitnall trade was a chance to move forward, and instead we've just given ourselves more draft penalties
