Yeh, this was the disturbing part. Quote: 'Overall, Carlton has traded away 29 picks, 5 from the first round, 8 from the second round, 6 from the third round and 8 late picks with another 2 picks not being utilised. Of the 27 players picked up by other clubs with these picks, the average games played has been 36, with 3 of these players going on to play over 100 games (Jason Norrish, Ronnie Burns and Barry Hall).
On the other hand, Carlton have gained 10 picks from trade week over the years, 3 from the first round, none from the second round, 2 from the third round and 4 late picks as well as 1 pick not utilised. Of the 9 players drafted by Carlton with these picks the average of games played has been just 23. Even more disturbingly none of the players drafted has gone on to play more than 50 games. However, hope is still held out for Luke Livingston, Trent Sporn and Justin Davies who by a strange coincidence are all currently on 41 games played.' Hopefully the law of averages comes into play over the lext few years and whichever picks we do get from trades turn into 100+ game players. |
