OK. There is already a thread on our CHF options, but what about FF? Who would play there if Fev gets traded? Fisher? Waite? Whitnall? Kouta? Setanta? Eddie Betts? What are your thoughts? I would like to see Setanta get the opportunity, but does he have what it takes yet?

Fisher.

He played there in his junior days, as well as spending time on the wing.

Has sticky hands and will be forced to improve his kicking (though it's not normally too bad). Takes a good mark (as we all know) and if bombed to the square, has a good chance to taking it.

If Fev gets traded we will have no backline and no recognised full forward ... and in the process beocme the laughing stock of the competition.

This is not meant to be a criticism of Fisher, Waite or Setanta who all make (or will make) significant contributions as 2nd and 3rd floating options.

He'd have to bulk up considerably.

For next season I think Kouta would play more out of the square, but largely a rotation between between any of the players mentioned so far.

Fev is staying though....we can't be that crazy

Maybe Bryan at FF.

I'm wondering more and more what's going on.

A kick up the backside, talking up potential trades to see who's on offer? or a serious issue with Fev.
I think if we trade Fev then we will have HAD to get rid of him (ie something serious going on - the Pagan quote about differing about footy philosophy or whatever it was starts ringing in the ears - add what Nixon's been saying and you wonder about the harmony of the palying group *MAYBE* due to Fev).

If we keep him then it was the former......

My gut instict is trying to talk up trade values etc. I think Fev and Whitts are all we've got (except for picks - expect those to be thrown up too)...so it's little surprise these guys are being thrown up by club/media/managers.

*News flash * - Justin Davies in a potential deal with three clubs???? I don't think anyone would be knocking on Carlton's door at OO today if that was about.....

I'm more worried about the team make-up in five years when these draftees will be peaking together, and Fev/Lance will be near the end.Nothing wrong with trading players if there is a greater reward for it in the form of finals success.

Setanta is the obvious option. It seems to be the position he's most suited too.

Surely Wiggins would be the natural replacement.

Fevola played Seat 12 Row 1 very well at the MCG this year. One of his better moments against the Bombers was in todays Herald Sun. I will miss our star full forward.

You'd assume Hartlett wouldn't play FF. He's been touted as our next key defender.

IMO the FF position will be rotated by Waite, Fish, Setanta and Diggers (If still around).

Agree with most of your points!
We have no backline!
Without Fev we would be screwed, because he takes the best defender each week!. The Forward line looks good atm. Sentanta should play in Forward pocket to learn the game, Betts playing in the other pocket, and Fev being the focal point!.
I see Fisher and Waite as players who could play on the wing, Half Forward, and Deep in the square in the future, BUT THEY ARE NOT READY TO BE OUR KEY TARGETS. Whitnall is 25 going on 33 and cannot handle the pace of the game now, imagine in a few years .

Dukes i dont think we will become the laughing stock next year!, because we already are, and it could get worse if we get rid of Fev and sign Whitnall on a undeserving contract!
