Just on 9

Medial ligament........unfortunately he may be out for up to 8 weeks at best

Hopefully it isn't as bad and its only a strain which would be 4-6

Need someone like Karl to step up

8 weeks. :|

Most reports so far have said 4-6, but I guess we need to wait until he gets a proper diagnosis tomorrow.

Huge opportunity for Karl, Digby and Livo to stand up...which I think Livo did tonight.

Almost the last player we wanted to see injured, but we need to move past this and let someone stand up.

9 also said at worst it could keep him out for 12 months. Bloody hope it isn't that serious.

A real dampener on the night. Put ice on my celeberations at TD
It's true that someone else needs to stand up (esp. Norman) but he was one player we could ill afford to lose. Injuries like these have a habit of recurring or niggling a player for many a month following recovery.

A real bummer!!!

Same here Marci - the only lowlight on an otherwise spectatular night. Was glad to see him hobble up on to the stage with the rest of the boys. Surely that meant it wasn't that serious - or is that just wishful thinking.

Yeah it was said he could miss anywhere from 4 weeks upto 12 months. Hopefully it isn't too serious and he's back sooner than later.

It was just too good to be true, wasn't it - something HAD to put a dampener on things! :x :(

Let's hope it is just a strain. We need T-Bird, it allows Livo to towel up Full Forwards 8)

Medial ligament is good news...severity (or lack of) is a bonus...
good luck T-bird...looking forward to you getting back!

Bret was playing a ripper of a game too.

He is young and seems to have been injury free over the past 4 years or so at least. Hopefully that will stand him in good stead.

Time for someone to stand up? Maybe time for Setanta to move up a notch.

No way he'll miss 12 months if it's a medial ligament. More like 6-8 weeks.

Bluebird, unfortunately being able to walk after doesn't give you a true indication of severity. When I tore my anterior cruciate ligament (the worst knee ligament you can tear) I was pretty much walking within half an hour or so, albeit with a hobble.

Get better soon T/Bird. Hope it heals well!

That's right Bluebernz. I have never had a knee injury (touch wood), but IIRC after the initial trauma, the knee isn't all that painful. I remember Whoosha did his knee once and refused to allow the trainers to assist him from the ground. Instead he ran/limped/hopped off from the far side of the ground (which wouldn't have helped the injury, I'm sure).

I also recall Porter (IIRC) sustained a medial ligament strain in a pre-season match, but came back within a few weeks to play in Round 1. Let's hope it is a ML and not the dreaded ACL.

All the paper reports are saying 4-6 weeks. Sounds conjectural but I think we'd all be mighty relieved to see BT out there in rd 4.

Very similar to Kouta. Must hurt like hell to have the knee bend like that, Im one of the lucky  ones whose ankles go first, counting 6 bad ones now

On the up side everyone is fighting for a spot. And the pressure must be intense given the way we are prepared to kill for the pil.

bad luck for thornton - I'm all for the club giving as much time as needed to recover as opposed to rushing him back. If its 10 weeks then so be it.

I guess it opens up an opportunity for setanta though
