oh boy my head is spinning, its one of those old time tops with holes in it so that as it spins it whistles - more like a high pitched scream than a musical sound.

so many things, fears, thoughts, and just well the old sort of watching the grass grow time.

Will Lance go?

how good is Lance?

if Lance is good, say 9/10ths better than the rest of our lads, then how crap does that make us?

Will Campo ever be accountable?

Can Denis still coach or, like an old bottle of wine, has he started to lost the taste for it?

Seems there's an awful lot of ideas tossing around like a saland at a B.B.Q. Some think Denis can't handle this new fang dangled flooding/ accountable football - 'cos the game's never been played that way before. Seems when you get to a certain age you become more leopard than human and the stains stick.

Others worry that the board is a board, flat and uninspiring - always thought a board should be called a wheel, cos wheels turn and have shape and seem to always be going somewhere, unless they are flat, then they just seem bored, like our board. Are any decisions being made? if so, what ones?

Lance Lance Lance

Fev Fev Fev

Shakespeare was talking about Carlton all those years ago with 'to be or not to be'..... Just who to let go, and what arrows will be slung our way and is it worse to pay a bloke more than his worth than suffer the outrageous scoops of all those newspapers?

I know little, very little. But I have some thoughts.

trade Lance for mine - if its a good deal. Trade him, save the cash, and rebuild. For mine, he has not shown anything except an ability to win free ball. We need a big bloke who can do more than that, and we need to develop a side that can exert pressure offensively and defensively. thats what's killing Carlton at the moment - well one of the things.

Kouta is part of this problem also but Kouta is with us until he retires. So be it and so it should be, he gave those knees a working over winning us an awful lot of games.

Campo can go for mine.

Skinny too rather than 3 years.

as for Denis, I think he now enters two crucial years for the club. two years to really begin to show this club is changing, the list is developing, the kids are coming on. Doesn't mean I expect miracles, just signs, just small nighttime flares that light the black sky up for a moment and point the way forward. I am sick of the same old same old.

Thats what this summer is about. Next season and the year after too. Finally showing us that the same old same old is buried, like the last old dog buried under the beech tree. Its bones are rotting and the new dog's been toilet trained.

We need movement, slow, gentle to begin with, but movement. We need some hint that the crescendo is coming - otherwise we'll become a reality TV show and grow so boring even collingwood fans will ignore us.

This post says nothing. Thats kinda where we are at the moment hey, nowhere, waiting, fingers crossed, knowing there is @#$%&! all we can do but wait and hope and think that even if the club does it differently than I hope, that they are getting it more right than me, which shouldn't be too hard.... Should it?

Source? I think he'll go because if he isn't insulted by how the club rate him compared to a Melbourne, then he isn't as bright as we think he is.

So some people are happy for a current player to embarass a "Carlton Great" for his pleasure. :?

Sorry but I have backed Fev since Brittain days and many will know this, but his best & fairest outburst was the last straw.
If the club decide to move him on, I'm with them on this.

Cant agree with you Surrey..Fev hasnt got a lot happening between the ears and his B&F evening didnt sound great but we should not be moving on our best matchwinning player without trying to sort him out ..at least for a year. He had injury problems and obviously got frustrated but he still kicked a reasonable tally for the year and if we could get some decent supply from a re jigged midfield he could kick 70+...I would just hate to see him move clubs and win someone a GF...we have done all the hard work with him and I want a return on that...lets give him one more year and some support....luv to see Setanta and Fev working together up forward...be buggered if I am going to see Fev lining up with Richo or seeing him trot out with Hamill...

How do we know this hasn't been a great Carlton tradition for years. Just because it was reported this year don't think that Fev would be the first player ever to make an inappropraite statement at a club function.

Sure Fev doesn't appear to be the sharpest knife in the draw, but players are under the microscope a lot more than they used to be. Who's to say all our past champions that you appear to hold in such high esteem were better blokes than Fev ... i'd guess a lot of them were likely to be ratbags.

If we trade Fev this club has lost the plot and Pagan has failed. I can forgive Pagan for not being able to work miracles with Angwin, or even not being able to keep Norman on track, but with all the press about the celebrated relationship between Pagan and Fev leading to Fev being on the cusp of greatness...it would be nothing short of a gigantic failure if Pagan has let that relationship sour and trades Fev a few short months after signing him for 3 years.

Fev hasn't done anything and neither has Lance to ask for that type of money.

Good post dannyboy. 8)

My opinion.

Fev, stay unless the trade offer is over the odds in Carlton's favour (in other words stay).

Lance, well this one is complicated, what is fair market value? An easy way to gauge it is if other clubs are offering $X to get him his real market value is $X-something because the other club is trying to pay a premium to snaffle him. The most important thing is Carlton not offer him anything close to $X and wait for trade week to see what happens. If he goes for a decent trade I will not be too upset, if he stays on a reasonable contract (whatever a very good flanker is paid these days) no problems.

Campo, he gave us 6 very good years of football, unfortunately for our club he signed a long term contract just after playing his best football. In the last five years his pace seems to have been dropping off year after year. Good receivers tened to take the ball at pace either level with the contested situation or slightly in front of it and then use their pace to break a line and deliver the ball. Camporeale used to do this in his prime, but now he has lost so much pace that he does not even attempt to break the lines anymore and now mostly takes the ball well behind the contested situation and then backpedals before kicking, the pre-2001 campo would be 40 metres up the ground delivering the ball.

Sad to see a once great footballer reduced to this. Pagan has tried several things with him over the last couple of years, tagger, wing and half back flanker. At the moment he is too slow to play as a receiver in the middle, too slow to keep up with nippy half forward flankers and too slow to keep up with pacy half back flanker who would run off him.
Yes we got burnt with his contract a mixture of bad luck and bad management. It would be a bit sad to see campo keep going in a game that has motored past him over the last few years. Time to retire from AFL alltogether.

Lappin, great servant, but now feels he is owed something by the club. You probably are Matty but the club is now hopefully different now than it used to be and unless he accepts 2 years, another trade, take whatever is on offer really.

Will be interesting to see what actually happens over the next week.

Oh, and on a lighter note an article from the bladder, http://www.thebladder.com.au/content/ne ... 24&EID=311 8)

Insulted?

If you're basing your opinion on media reports, Carlton are offering Lance 87.5% of Melbournes offer!

90% of AFL players could recieve more money from other clubs but they arent just about dollars.
Some even show appreciation for being generously compensated whilst not delivering.
Lances representatives say Lance is looking after his own backyard.

I hope he goes into the PSD, prices himself out of the market and ends up with nothing.
His attitude makes me sick.

But you know what Juzzcarlton, he wont go anywhere.
If he goes to Melbourne there'll be expectations to perform. There will be pressure to be fit and committed.
Is that worth 12.5% of a contract?
No, Lance will stay, he's just waiting for Carlton to move on some of his teammates so there's more money for him.

We're the ones who should feel insulted.

If the club keeps Lance its bad
If the club keeps campo its bad
If the club keeps Lappin on a three year deal its bad
If the club keeps Lappin on a two year deal its not that bad
If the club lets go of Fev its very very bad
If the club chooses Lance over Fev its a fu<king disgrace

Collo, Pagen be strong and stick by what you have indicated earlier on in the year ie Fev stays lance Campo and Lappin (on a three year deal) gone
