All this draft talk can make some of us on here salivate about our prospects in 2006.

But will it once again be yet another year of failure?

I'm not convinced a Priority Pick plus a no.4 pick will deliver us much success in 2006, yes some improvement (can't get much worse than bottom!), but not much.

I'm tipping we will finish 11th next year with 8 wins.

What does everyone else think?

5-7 wins.

so probably 15th to 11th territory.

a lot lower than my 05 expectations

Hawthorn will, without a doubt, finish last in 2006 (they're busily trying to trade away Hay and Everitt and by all accounts even made Crawford the offer to trade him if he wished) so it's pretty clear that the tank is in for the hottest draft in years.

We'll finish somewhere between 12th and 15th.

15th in a canter, with an enthralling battle for 16th with Hawthorn. The AFL will investigate the concept of relegation both Carlton & Hawthorn will be so bad as to being a blight on the game......

15th - 16th but if we keep both Lance and Fev, dead last!

Bryces Gibbs, Sellar, etc come on down!

its the great unknown. could be anywhere. subject to trades nect week, how quickly some of our draft picks take to impact at AFL level. its also very difficult to predict the improvement from our current young crop. whose to say simmo and bentick don't really step up. whose to say their late season improvemnt wasn't a flash in the pan?? maybe walker is going to realise his potential? maybe livo will build a reputation as the next matthew scarlett  .... or not. really can't say where we're going. just hope its a sight better than this year.

Based on the fact next years draft is meant to be a ripper it wouldnt do any harm to finish in the bottom section of the ladder...6 months ago you wouldnt have had me saying that but seeing the Hawks and Pies lay down and engineer picks its probably the way of the AFL now and we have to to get down and get dirty to take advantage of the system or we will be trampled on by clubs like Collingwood as they rort the system.....

oh please, please don't tell me people are going to discuss the advantages of finishing low in 2006. what if 2007 and 2008 are bumper drafts as well? should we just stay down the bottom?? this year given the way the year panned out, by midseason it was clear that draft picks were the way to go. tot ake advantage of the system. but its about time we started looking up. continued failure will only lead to more of the same. look at st. kilda. they're victims of their own mediocrity. FFS, let's start some positivity at the CFC

Teams are not discussing it they are doing it..Hawks and Pies both pulled players out of matches for bogus reasons that fooled nobody..even AndyD sitting in the throne room of the AFL knew what was happening..ethics wise we want to win every game but this is self survival where they AFL have set the system up to be abused and other teams are leading the way...we have a choice ..play by the new rules however morally wrong they are and survive or go under if we dont ...
We will lose sponsors/ members and be relying on the AFL for handouts via the balance fund....no thanks.....it is a level playing field now because the other clubs are tanking...not talking about it...

Sad fact is we will probably have to have our snouts in the trough for early draft picks for a couple of years along with the likes of Hawthorn and Collingwood while we rebuild....so finals to me are a long way off....
