Quote: “He also repeated that Carlton was in the pre-season competition to win it and rejected the notion that a fired-up performance in the competition could backfire on clubs early in the home-and-away season.
It's the best preparation you can have for round one, playing a pre-season grand final. I'll debate it with anyone that playing in a pre-season grand final is not perfect preparation for round one." By Len Johnson The Age March 11, 2005 I agree… Go Blues ![]() |

What annoys me the most is coaches (ie Sheedy) saying that they place no importance on the pre-season comp. I’m all for trying the new kids & recruits in this format as it gives all involved valuable experience. The main risk I see is that if you lose, you end up playing practise matches in the country on sub-standard grounds which raises the risk of injuries (Rodan for instance). Winning the pre-season comp is about much more than just money. Form lines suggest a good pre-season showing carries momentum into the season proper. To place no importance on solid matches played on a good surface is ridiculous & a defeatist attitude |

Sheedy is a plonk, speaks cabbage, and is akin to Jack Elliott ... his time has been and gone. And like Jack, Sheeds can't see it, but everyone else can. |

I have yet to see it proved where losing form is better than winning form. Especially in Grand Finals. Sheedy is once again looking for excuses for his overexposed, overrated bunch of imposters |

Everyone wants to win, even at half time when the little league comes out, i still get upset when the little blues loose. Only when your team is out of the comp, is when the comp doesnt matter. |

Sheedy is the Beta video of coaches; ie redundant. He would give his left nut to be playing off in tomorrows GF, but his team was beaten by a superior unit. Sheedy continues to gob off in an effort to appear relevant. Many Dons supporters would agree, here is a case of the coach seeing himself as bigger than the club. That's fine by me. Regards Pedro. |

My old man witnessed one of Tommy Hafeys talks during the week. Tommy even reckons Sheeds is past it. The words he used were... "Sheeds is past it. He has stayed at Essendon* too long" |

The confidence of the younger Blues players must be sky high at the moment. They must now believe in themselves and as a team that they may just be able to pull on the boots for some September action this year. (Not trying to get too far ahead of myself). I think that one of the best aspects of Saturday nights win was how the Blues didn't put their heads down when West Coast got 1 point ahead in the last quarter. The boys fought back and ran away comfortable 27 point winners. All credit to their fighting spirit. The foundations of a good team is being laid nicely by the master coach. BRING IT ON!! ![]() ![]() ![]() |
