Great article from the age. Seems that Lance's dad Graeme has been using the Jezza coaching manual to help Lance get back in shape !!

Boy has it paid dividends :D

What a week for good press for the Blues. It was a decent read and a good backgrounder on Big Lance's quiet determination.

Graeme Whitnall - is he inducted into the Hall of fame yet?

From The Age article referenced above.

Great info :D

'THE ROAD TO A LEANER LANCE
■ Dragging an old tyre on a rope around his local footy ground regularly since October.
■ Extra weight sessions - up to five a week over summer, followed by a low-fat lunch of chicken breast and steamed vegetables.
■ No major injuries.
■ Occasional healthy meals, even delivered to his home.

THE RESULTS
■ Substantial reduction in skin folds - 120-plus at their worst, now under 60.
■ Improved his bench press by about 20 kilograms.'

Great result but wouldnt it have been better for Lance to organise extra work with Mulkearns. The last thing we neede was for Graeme to put too many bricks in the tire and Lance do his back or groin or a hernia whatever. These days, trainig regimes are worked out for max benefit to the player without risking injury. Lance could have done harm by adding his own regime without telling the club.
Luckily though the only injury we are seeing now is sore backs of his opponents from Lance flying over them

Even if Lance wants to go at the end of this season it will be a win-win - clubs will need to part with significant early draft picks if they want him.

Don,t get me wrong. I have no idea whether Lance wants to stay or go. I'm no Lance basher & I think he is pivitol to our success. I was just bringing up the fact that it's amazing what a dose of reality can do to someones state of mind, intensity & performance levels

Well Done Sir Lancelot. :D
Keep up the good work mate and all will be achieved.
Oh and while your achieving you can also rub it to those that doubted you. :P

RETECP. \X/esside

Anyway, good on Lance for getting his act together, hopefully his Wizzer Cup form will see a good 22+ games in 2005.

Speaking of bench press, I hear that Callum Chambers has the best form at the club in this regard. He really is a mini-Kouta.

Or he could leave for nothing, but let's not go there

Used to do the tire training back in the day......Ohhhhh it hurt.

Lance isn't going anywhere at seasons end. He will resign and at a reduced rate.

The spelling police are at it again Mark. Now you've had it.

I normally don't care but the difference in meaning between resign and re-sign is absolutely critical.

Resign = quits, walks away

Re-sign = puts pen to paper on a new contract thus sealing short term future with club

I loved running with the tyre behind my back. Was one of my favourite pre-season training sessions.

Wonder if Lance will move up to the tractors next pre-season? May get a gig on ESPN the Strongest Man in the World.
